Blackfeet warriors use to raid all the way down to Mexico for Spanish horses. There are stories of killing Spaniards which is where names like “heavy head and iron breast” come from just to name a couple. Anyway if you research “Little Dogs Treasure” you’ll find a story I’m guessing happened in Utah where a Blackfoot war chief Little Dog lead a party of warriors down and they jumped some Spanish soldiers who they killed. Among the things the Spanish were carrying were two heavy chests that had to be broke open, inside them they found “Shiny buttons with no holes”. These shiny buttons were Spanish gold. Little Dog and company had no use for such things and they buried them in a cave near the kill site. Many early traders/trappers tried to get Little Dog and his men to take them to the place but the Blackfeet always refused saying it was bad luck to return to places where people were killed.

Yeah this is well known, Spaniards were looking for the City of Gold and went all over North America into deserts without provisions and met opposition.

A dead Spanish soldier was found in a cave in the late 1800s. He was complete with armor and sword. The armor is on display in the Utah State Museum. Check it out.

I have chinese and Spanish graves on my property. The Chinese are from when the railroads were being built, and the Spanish graves are much older. Were not really sure where exactly theyre from or the years they were buried there. The farm/property has been in my family for almost 150 years.

Good story. In the 1970s I was very fortunate to have John Rockwell for a Utah and U.S. history teacher. He told us lots of stories that are not in the textbooks. He was a direct descendant of Orin Porter Rockwell. I was hooked first day of class. I worked a cattle ranch next to the Ute reservation. I never went down to the river for long. It was the line I never crossed. Some places we just don't belong. I had some interesting dreams after going there. Then it's like something made peace with me. I was able to go fishing and take one enough to eat . The Uintas have a power to respect.

About 50 years ago, my grandfather was plowing a field in south central Kansas and unearthed a Spanish Conquistador helmet. Upon climbing off his tractor he picked it up and ultimately sold it to an antique collector in Hutchinson, KS.

There was a display of Swords in 1993 at the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum. It was collected locally from a cave or some story. Looking at the blades most were colonial era sabres, a few US Calvalry type, but two were different. Both looked Roman, one may have been a centurion long sword the other was definitely a Viking Sword. How those two swords ended up in that collection is still a big question.

There is an old tale in Utah about the lost Spanish gold mines that were allegedly located by or in the Unitas. There were supposed to be 3 mines.

I have seen a Spanish sword found in a cave. It was big too. It was standing up, handle down, leaning against the wall. Handle had rotted off.

I've seen plenty of caves and haven't found a good reason to go in yet! People forget how spooky those damn places can be! Hey, I believe spelunking is insane and dangerous! I am really athletic and a trained fighter, though that was like 40 yrs ago! Anyhow I often ask spelunking participants if they have a cart to push their testicles around or do they just drag them!

The Spanish were trading with the Natives off the coast of North Carolina in the 1500s. 40 to 50ft dugout Canoes with about 30 natives in each would come out to trade with them. These Cypress trees were huge 400 yrs ago before they started being milled by settlers. They are a protected now.

Last night I had a dream about soldiers and a storm. Now I'm watching a video about soldiers and a storm.

Life is a trip.

And he never took anything to prove his story and could never find this place again. I used to soak up every story like this, but after 54 years, I've learned they're just that: stories.

If these are Conquistadores from the 16th century they did not carry pistols or flintlock rifles. At best they had rudimentary matchlocks and/or wheel locks. The flintlock was invented around 1630.
