Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!

Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on YouTube!

Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!

On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.

A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.

DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!

Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.

Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!

Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!

Ok, now for the ugly stuff...

The historic Western hardrock mines have been hit hard by all the internet attention, so good on you for keeping obscure (and rather "complete") mines like this away from the hordes; unfortunately it seems the best policy is to mention no details whatsoever. Even these more modern mines are becoming rare to find in this condition. I don't post anything online anymore, which sucks, but that's, as you put it first, "the world we live in" - the scrappers, vandals and "boneheads" are always waiting in the wings. To everyone else who reads this comment - please do your part, however small, to help protect this history so that future generations may enjoy these sites. Great tour!

I'm in awe of the amount of trees that were cut down to create the timbering needed to hold up the mine. 🇨🇦

Thanks for taking us along and protecting this Gem. These places were visited for decades without Boneheads and Jamokes wrecking them, now almost every mine you visit has been vandalized.
This one has had some minor damage but mostly "protected" over the years, hope it stays that way!! Thanks Gly.

Beyond Happy to see Gly not only having a Blast doing what He loves, but also Now with a Companion. Couldn't happen to a Nicer Guy!

It is truly amazing to see the incredible craftsmanship that went into these long forgotten places, and beyond that, the forces of nature that slowly reclaim it all. The snapped, compressed, bowed heavy timbers, piping and ductwork having fallen to the floor, heavy plate steel ore chute doors blown open, dented, bent and worn down from literal tons of ore and waste rock passing through them. The worn smooth chutes, saddles worn into ladder rungs from thousands of steps from the miners moving about.

And then we get to see the awesome ore carts and the grate style floor design at the triple set which itself is impressive enough. It would have been quite the sight to behold if you could have been there to see it in operation.

Thank you Gly and Laura for taking us all on some unimaginable adventures and showcasing the glory that built this country. The men and women that worked in and around these mines were a whole different breed of people. And here you two are diving in as these places start to crumble, giving the world a chance to see this art potentially for the last time before the earth reclaims the voids.

Wow! What a huge mine. Enough timber to build 5 houses on one level. Some pretty sketchy areas. Definitely some high quality video. Thanks Gly and Laura for taking me along.

The amount of infrastructure in this mine is absolutely mind blowing. Hard to contemplate the amount of work it took to get all of that timber in there and put in place.

Every time I go to this site there is something else missing or vandalized since the last visit. Glad you are documenting it while it's still there.

OMG there's a whole forest worth of timbering in this mine. In WWII era, tungsten was also used for munitions, for armor piercing rounds and that sort of stuff.

Modern mines are intriguing, too! Fun to see the advancement in technology when you compare it to a 100+ year old mine.
Thanks, G&L! Stay safe!!

They also needed tungsten for Vacuum tubes. So up until the advent of transistors, the need for tungsten was probably the highest humanity ever had.
