Finding Incredible Artifacts and Many Levels in the Abandoned Empire Mine (Part 1)

What makes an abandoned mine a good one? That's easy -- when a mine warrants repeated visits in order to see everything, you know it's a good one! Nick had previously explored the lowest tunnel at the Empire Mine a couple years ago where he found significant workings. I recently joined up with him and his wife Traci to explore and document some of the upper tunnels at the Empire Mine complex. We entered a total of three tunnels this time around and were amazed at what we found!

The Empire Mine was active in the 1920s and produced copper, lead, silver, and zinc. Here in Part 1, we explore one of the major haulage tunnels at the mine and then ascend a century-old ladder in a hoist room to an upper level. In Part 2 which will be published next weekend, we descend a ladder system to a lower level where we found some really impressive artifacts that were in good condition and waiting for our arrival! To catch a glimpse of some of the loot we found on the lower level, be sure to watch the sneak-peek previews from Part 2 at the end of this video!

Greetings from Hollywood, California! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us. I've learned a lot from watching them. I originally came for the ghosts and stayed for the history and education! Two of my ancestors (father and son) died in separate mine cave-ins and were never recovered, your explorations have really brought an appreciation for what their working environment was probably like.

Good afternoon from Los Angeles! One question if I may, would it be possible for you to do a gear video? I remember one from about a year or two ago (my gauge of time might be horrible lol) but I’ve been curious on your current setup for going into these places and the precautions you take before every journey! Great video as always Frank :)

Always a treat, coming across one of these. Love the big ol' rusty air blower. Scary stairs! Brave trio.

Great vlog Frank. Can't wait to see part 2 and all the artifact's you discover. It always amazes me what minors left behind in North American mines. Guess over here in the UK our old minor's either took everything away or over the years explorers have pinched everything. Keep up the good work.
