I can’t believe there’s nothing here in the comments. I’ve had a Rottweiler before she was about five years old when I adopted her. She was owned by a senior citizen who had passed away. She was a bit grumpy when I got her but over the course of time she became very sweet. I would definitely consider another Rottie or a Rottweiler mix. That Rottie mix with a border collie is absolutely beautiful.

Makes the best guard dog. And stays with kids, if trained young.

I had a Rottweiler Shepherd mix. VERY VERY smart, playful & friendly. Ridiculously smart, actually. Children from the nearby elementary school would take him, off leash after-school, to the school yard playground. Unsupervised. Parents all got to know him & were ok with it. He also liked cats. He was a giant 150+lbs lapdog/teddy bear.
I also met a completely brindle Rottweiler/ Amstaff mix. Obvious Rottweiler but brindle. He was absolutely gorgeous.

My adult son has a Rotty/Chow-Chow mix that stays with us while he is at work. That dog is just a huge, gentle teddy bear who wants to be loved on. Not a mean bone in his body, unless you are an adult, trying to come into our yard or home, uninvited (even then I don't think he would bite you). Out on the street (walks) he has yet to meet someone he doesn't like. If he meets you once, you are a friend for life. Other than that, he's lazy, stubborn, and loves to eat.

I've got a Rottie/Shepard/Cattle dog. He's the best I've ever had. Totally capable of off the leash control in heavy traffic or around a crowd. And he won't fight unless attacked.

I had one heck of an awesome Rottweiler! He passed in 2014… I weighed him and we got shots for him, before going to Florida from northern Mn. I put him in a doggy hotel. I ain’t and wasn’t rich: he weighed between 135 and 140 +plus. He was my boy and my daughter loved him. Pulling her and her friends in a wagon. I miss him
