Video edited by Caleb Landry Jones.

Caleb Landry Jones of Get Out, Twin Peaks, Three Billboards, X-Men, and Heaven Knows What fame brings you his latest single, ‘I'm On Top of the World’, the follow up to his debut Sacred Bones LP The Mother Stone. Caleb Landry Jones comes to the label via the recommendation of legendary director Jim Jarmusch, who heard Jones’s recordings while working with him alongside Adam Driver, Chloe Sevigny, Bill Murray, and Tom Waits, in 2019 cult zombie hit The Dead Don’t Die. After working with savant directors like Jordan Peele, David Lynch, Brandon Cronenberg, and the Safdie Brothers, it’s only fitting that Jones’s music feels like the soundtrack to a cinematic head trip of epic proportions. Whittled down from hundreds of demos, and recorded in Los Angeles during duel filming of The Outpost and The Kindness of Strangers, The Mother Stone is a debut record unlike any other.

His Beatlesque beats sounds like he’s straight out of Liverpool, not Richardson, Texas.

It's about advancement in technology and where it's leading us and what it's doing to us and, by extension, the rest of the things that live on earth.

The iconic clips from shows and movies games represent how technology is able to divert the attention of the masses from all the other things it's doing. Some of those things are good for the advancement of the species. Like the example of brain surgery and depictions of cells signifying medical advancement. Some of them are bad. Like imprisoning dolphins so we can just look at them and some of the other examples of animals suffering.

The lyrics are clever. "I'm on top of the world". We all have technological marvels in our pockets that tell us everything we could ever want for example. We are more advanced than we have ever been. "Everyone's looking down". It still doesn't change the human condition.

So it all begs a question. We will continue to advance and change the world as we know it, but to what end?

I have the promo vinyl of this. I own everything he's done musically actually as well as his films and tv show appearances.

Sorry but in my opinion some actors shouldn't sing. Just because you can act doesn't mean you can sing. Goes the other way around too. Just because you can sing doesn't mean you can act. I read the bio's of hundreds of actors all the time and so many think they are musicians to.
Again in my opinion the 3 songs I've heard of his don't really have good lyrics if any at all. The beats are uncomfortable and dry. You can't nod your head or dance to them.
I like him as an actor but not as a musician.
Like I said earlier these are just my opinions and everyone has different tastes.

Thumb down : Leave that poor little baby turtle alone... ☹️ Playing with an animal is bad. And it's worse when it's for making a video clip cuz it gives a bad exemple for young people
