Good advice from the wizard of Notown, but I'm not sure his 3 tips are actually about plotting.
So here are my three
1) Chekhovs Gun -If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall, in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off.
2) Plot should be consistent which character- if you plot something that is contrary to character (without giving justification), your reader will find it more difficult to accept.
3) Trust your subconscious. Don't be afraid to use plot ideas that come to you when you are not directly working on your project, ideas that come as you are falling off to sleep or waking up or just doing the dishes. These are sometimes more natural and organic than stuff you come up with consciously working.
