Why do pions have cp eigenvalue -1? The charged pions arent even Eigenstates! This is quite cruicial for the Experiment, because only charged pions are measured. Can you explain it?

"Kaon" and "CP Violation" are both songs in HL2 :D

these videos are generally really cool and straighforward, good summary to start studying the topic

All my life I thought that CP means "Civil Protection"

Thank you for a very clear explanation of CP violation in the neutral kaon system. In particular, you explained the direct vs indirect violation very well. Direct violation has also been observed in penguin diagram processes -- also CP violation has been observed in neutral B, B-strange, and D meson systems. Thank you again!

Nice video again :3 learned for my Exam and thought of searching the Kaon oscillation on YT and than found your video :D You just do good stuff, when i find you two times xD

Aaah finally a nice explanation, thank you!

Thank you epecially for the explanation of how the indirect violation is a violation. I had not seen anyone else highlight the fact that you start with "not an eigenstate" and end up with "one of two eigenstates". I was under the misconception that K_s and K_L somehow indicate oscilation between K_1 and K_2.

is everything in Half-Life a reference to a scientific concept?

heading for my Msc physics exam and CP violation in kaons is a real hit

Hey there. I had a question for you. Is it possible for Mesons to form Baryons? I had a reaction in mind that looked something like this:

s- is an antistrange quark
d is a down quark
u- is an antiup quark

kaon and pion goes to
s-d and u-d goes to
s-u-dd goes to
uu- dd goes to
energy dd goes to
u dd goes to
neutron

Given that antistrange quarks can decay into up quarks and energy can spontaneously generate many various types of subatomic particles.

If the above is true; then we have a little story about how a pair of mesons can form a baryon.

Thoughts?

I am having trouble understanding CP violation via the interference between mixing and decay. Could you help on that?

Sorry, my particle physics knowledge is a little rusty so this might be a really ignorant question, but I don't quite get the logic behind the indirect CP violation. So the conservation law is violated because the long Kaon isn't an eigenstate? I'm not sure why conservation laws are violated when a superposition decays into two eigenstates.
