Here's a little variation on the 'wurst' drum miking technique I stumbled upon while my rack tom was off my kit. Pretty punchy for one mic.

Drum Gear:

Tama Superstar Hyperdrive 22x20
Tama Rockstar 16x16
Pearl Sensitone Phosphor Bronze 14x6.5

Cymbals: (Sabian)
14" HHX Evolution Hi-Hats
20" HHX Legacy Ride

Sure, one mic. But THREE chairs! Where the hell do I get the budget for three chairs!

I use the Wurst technique for small live gigs, it's very useful. I EQ the presence out becaause the presence can be heard naturally.

Very complete and usable the cymbals are a little low in the mix, compression can always bring them up, like you did here. Good o'l 57.
I'm guessing something like a 421 would give you a little more bottom.

Perfect technique. Skills that will eventually be lost once popular music completely eliminates real, unquantized drummers..
