MLF Angler Involved in Deadly Boat Incident | News 19 Now

Several agencies are investigating a multi-boat crash on Lewis Smith Lake Wednesday morning. News 19's Greg Screws and Kayla Smith provide an update on what we know about the incident.

Too many fast boats in a small area, too many boat operators driving race type fishing boats. Any one with credit can buy a 250 HP boat with no experience or training. God bless those involved. I wonder if the boats were more modestly rigged with lower horsepower motors and more safety training this incident might not have occurred

I’ve been in full tournaments with 200 boats and you know there are other smaller club tournaments going on plus summertime boaters out there. That’s a lot of boat traffic and some tournament anglers are absolute nuts at first light running like scalded dogs under foggy conditions.

A nitro Z21 with a 300 can easily do 80, with a 250 it’s going 70-75

The problem is these bass fishing dude's are mainly syco's and they have to go full throttle and act stupid, if they had a 30ty mile an hour speed limit and disqualification for exceeding the speed limit. You can tell another boat hit his boat, and the operator of the other boat should be prosecuted for vehicular manslaughter and you know they were probably in possession of alcohol.
