Vinny Appice - Pranking Tony Iommi with Ronnie James Dio
Показать описание
During this clip from Drum For The Song podcast, Vinny Appice explains how him and Ronnie James Dio played a great prank on Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi.
Please check out the full episode 21 of Drum For The Song podcast featuring the rock drumming legend himself, Vinny Appice who is mostly known for his work as drummer for Black Sabbath and Dio. Vinny is an American drummer and is still going strong as an active member of Last In Line. Following the death of frontman Ronnie James Dio in 2010, the original Dio lineup of Vinny on drums, bassist Jimmy Bain guitarist Vivian Campbell, and keyboardist Claude Schnell reunited along with vocalist Andrew Freeman to perform the Dio songs they originally recorded. The band released a studio album of original material without Schnell titled Heavy Crown in February 2016.
We had a fantastic conversation and discussed how to correctly pronounce his surname and why his brother Carmine Appice pronounces it differently, his back story of how he originally joined Black Sabbath, why the band thought his drum kit was too small and how we was asked to fill the drum throne multiple times afterwards. We also talked about his life on the road including some pranks conjured up by my dad Phil Campbell involving a horse during a tour with Heaven And Hell. I was also surprised to hear he currently uses and endorses a drum brand called Sawtooth and that he hosts a weekly show on his Facebook page and how he's taugh himself how to make studio recordings at home for various session projects. Listen to the full episode to discover how he ended up on one of John Lennon's records and much more!
