Scary Movie: It was Doofy

What’s happening in this Scary Movie movie clip?
Cindy (Anna Farris) and the sheriff find out that the killer was actually Doofy (David Sheridan). They find his mask in the street, but it is too late because Doofy already escaped with Gail (Cheri Oteri).

What’s the Scary Movie about?
Starring Anna Faris, Marlon Wayans and Shannon Elizabeth, Scary Movie is a send-up of today's most popular horror movies. Watch a familiar-looking group of teenagers finding themselves being stalked by a more-than-vaguely recognizable masked killer. As the victims begin to pile up and the laughs pile on, none of your favorite scary movies escape the razor-sharp satire of this outrageously funny parody. Everything begins when one night, 18-year-old Drew Decker (Carmen Electra) receives a threatening phone call while home alone. She is then chased outside by somebody dressed as Ghostface, who ends up stabbing her and slitting her throat. Following this tragedy, Cindy Campbell (Faris) realizes that Drew was murdered exactly one year after she and her friends accidentally killed a man.

One thing I loved about the first Scary Movie is that, despite being really goofy, they took the production values and cinematography seriously, so, looks wise, it could totally pass as a Scream movie.

For a silly spoof movie, I always felt that this was actually a legit good twist ending.




Edit: Since people keep bringing this up, I know it's a parody of The Usual Suspects. The reason why it's a good twist ending is because nobody who watched the film expected Doofy to be the killer who was only posing as a mentally challenged man the entire time. His complete "transformation" really drives it home which I felt was actually more visually jarring than Kevin Spacey's more subtle transformation from Verbal Kent to Kyser Soze as the "Doofy" actor somehow managed to look like a completely different person simply by changing his physical mannerisms
