Great job explaining this. This will clear things up for people just getting started or those confused with large/small apertures.

This channel helped me get into manual mode. I used to avoid manual but now I love it.

Great vid! Quick and easy. Now all we gotta do is buy some quality glass for f1.8

First things I did with my first DSLR:
1. Turn beep off

Hyperfocal techniques work well in group situation as the depth of field extends both in front of the plane of focus as well as behind. Focusing on the middle bobble head would have demonstrated this better.
I recall the F90 (from back in the film days) had a function to make this easy to use. A lot of modern glass does not show the focus range for each f-stop, a bit of a shame.
Loving your work.

Now take the same shot at f2.8 but take a step or two back, your focal plane expands and MORE is in focus OR take a step closer or zoom in and less is in focus.

Thanks for that 11 day course, but the thing is I now signed up the third time and still did not get any mail. Any idea why?

Hey Jared, Could I know where are you from? Or if someone read this comment and know it... Where is your accent from?
I use to hear English videos on youtube to train my ear and I'm impressed with myself 'cause I understand the most you say.
Cheers!

Interesting how the lens zoomed slightly as you stopped down to f11, then zoomed back out as you went to f22... I presume you used a stationary tripod for these? If so, I guess it's a part of the optical design... interesting.

So the smaller the F number gets the wider the aperture. Right?
