Major X2.2 Solar Flare | September 6, 2017

A Major X2.2 Solar Flare has just been unleashed from Active Region 12673 at 9:10 UTC September 6. The eruption took place while in an earth-facing position so the incoming (CME) Coronal Mass Ejection will be headed to the earth in 2-3 days where strong geomagnetic storms could be possible. We await images of the resulting eruption and CME in the hours ahead.

A large Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) is now visible on the Soho Satellite and does look to have an earth-directed component which should provide geomagnetic storming sometime Sep 8-9 where Aurora should be visible at mid to high latitudes.

lets hope mother is not going to have her own hurricane season, at least not earth ward . this video correlates very well with the weather channel advising watching the sky at night if clear here in Canada to see the aurora Borealis, over the next night or two. which seemed odd out of context, because I've only seen them in winter on very clear, very cold nights. now it fits.

Very strange night sleep. Glad commenters are talking about the time. I actually got up for the day in the middle of the night. Having gone to bed early I had expected to get a lot of sleep, but not meant to be. Might it be the full moon in pisces water conductivity is playing a role too.
