Thank you so much for this. I was unable to do ab exercises in PT years ago because it hurt my neck so badly. I have forward head posture and the works due to lax ligaments and years of muscles being used incorrectly or not at all thanks to complications from hEDS and POTS. I hope you will continue to upload more neck pain and strengthening content!

Excited to try this. I get nasty neck tension which makes me feel ill when I exert myself sometimes - like this week I'm doing the decorating. Feeling very tired. Struggling with abs work in gym class. This should help!

thank you so much. I've always carried stress in my neck and it never occurred to me to try to strengthen the neck muscles. your tips are amazing. I have always hated ab curls because of my weak neck. HUH! I will do this for sure. I can lift my head during yoga but it is so uncomfortable since my back neck feels it's doing all the work and it isn't liking it. I learned from a physical therapist about strengthening my thighs to save my back ( 25 years ago). Now I can try this neck muscle work. Wow! I have been seeing osteopaths, chiropractors, acupuncturists for my neck issues since i was a teenager. (I'm 70 now) I will certainly add your regimens to my neck care repertoire going forward!

I overreleased my SCM, while trying to address some TMJ issues. While I was able to manually release the SCM, it triggered my TMJ even more, and also, hurt my shoulders and neck. Once I started this exercise, it started to balance things out. I also felt my molars more prominently, so doing this helps put the lower jaw in the correct position.

Hi Matt thanks so much for all your work...I am glad you posted this. I had week neck muscles and others due to poor posture and microscope work and repetitive strain looking down constantly for work and I got better with the help of physiotherapy 30 years ago. I now hear creaky noises sometimes when I move my neck...do you have a full neck stretch and strengthen program?

I am 56 years old and over the last 7 years had both shoulders become frozen at different times. I am having trouble with coughing at times as it feels like my neck is out of alignment. So I massage the front to get it back into place. It it worse after I do push ups or weights related to my back and shoulders. I had two MRI's for my first frozen shoulder as my face would go numb and so were my feet and fingers. Only "aged" related degeneration. I work a physical job for the last 14 years putting stock away in a hospital so lots of arm, back and shoulder movements.

This is the exact exercise my PT prescribed. I've been working on this for months and am up to around 50-55 seconds (starting at around 15 seconds).
