I review, breakdown and explain Only Murders In The Building Season 4 Episode 7. I discuss the Hulu and Disney+ show starring Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin as Mabel, Charles and Oliver as they look to solve the killing of Sazz. I react to the trio going to Suffolk, New Jersey as they met Doreen who was played by Melissa Mcartney, Loretta returning and getting engaged to Oliver and the people in the west block being the main suspects following the ending which was focussed on Dudenoff. I also give my theories and predictions on episode 8.

Which season of the show are you preferring right now? Season 3 or season 4? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

I almost forgot about mystery and murders, because I enjoy the funny interaction between characters so much. Love the catfight, Meryl Streep physical comedy is so underrated, she literally has never been boring, like ever.

I’ve never felt so satisfied knowing the “plot holes” we caught have been brought up from season 1 to season 4!! Love this show!! Writers who get it, and care, and deliver!

I was hoping Loretta wouldn't be involved, but the more I think about it and read different theories, it's likely. I'm remembering in the beginning of the third season during the table read when she was trying different accents, what if it was her on the ham radio? Also, what happened to Scott Bakula? He has to come back at some point.
I'm also so happy we finally got Melissa McCarthy! I hope we see more of her next season!

The loose ends have bugged me since Season 1, so I am SO on board with this. 😃 Honestly, I’d attributed them to sloppy writing, but I’d be absolutely THRILLED to be wrong. In fact, I’ve already underestimated the show once, because when the actors’ pointed out the smudge on Oliver’s note, I was SURE it wasn’t on the original (and was a detail added this season as sort of a retconned “clue”). But it’s been a while since I watched Season 1, and I’m very glad you included the clip of Oliver finding it, so I could see with my own eyes that this darn smudge was there THE WHOLE TIME! That alone legit excites me 😊 - because maybe it means this show really has been playing the “long game” all along. 😁

And to answer your question of preference, as much as I loved the musical aspects of Season 3, I felt the mystery was far more “cut and dry” - especially how they essentially lined the suspects up like bowling pins and eliminated them one by one. Both seasons were/are technically unsolvable until almost the end, given the way they’re laid out, but I’m far more invested in the twists and turns of this season than the “bowling pin” approach - and I’ve laughed more, too - so at this point, if I had to choose, it’s Season 4 for me all the way. Connecting back to Season 1 and maybe (hopefully) even a grander mystery would be the icing on the cake. ❤

I don't know why everyone thinks the crossed out face is Saz. I think it's Loretta. She's an actress. So, it is more likely that she took Dudenoff's class than Saz. And she just showed that she is not a meek little woman in her fight with Charles' sister.

One of the Dolls was a spitting image of Loretta.

For me Loretta was just so fishy this episode. She showed a bit of a darker side to herself and was a lot more reactive than she's ever been throughout the series. I have been thinking that if the Westies are actors, there is a chance that Loretta was also part of the gang. Also she conveniently 'left' for LA on the night of the murder.

At the end of the day, there is going to be a Season 5, which means Oliver has to stay in New York (even though he is engaged to Loretta who is in LA). The only way I see this happening is if Loretta is revealed as the killer. The ending of this episode was Oliver saying he's getting married, but it just seemed a bit ominous.

I think Dudenoff might be a director in Loretta's past who is the father of Dickie. Plus Loretta said actors are investigators so it's not that hard for her to track him down. Plus Meryl streep.. come on she is not here just to play a guess role.

Ss 4 is far more complicated than Ss3 and I love it. Just don't leave us with more unsolved mystery like Winnie.

Since this episode was called valley of the dolls - a movie about three women in show business getting addicted to a drug- the element of show business is still there. Idk why but I am leaning towards the writer, only a spurring writer could make elaborate murder plans that trickle from season 1 to season 4 .

The question is: why did someone kill dudenoff?

Since the theme is stand ins and doubles I assume someone wanted to be more in the spotlight and he was in the way… he was a filmmaker. So someone with a connection to movies that always felt left out or overshadowed. I am still suspicious of Howard. He could have been a stan in on one of dudenoffs movies. He is trying to infiltrate the investigation (like Jen) and he knows people in the building very well…..

The killers reveal in this season was much, MUCH better than season 2. There were breadcrumbs all over the places and we could follow them, but in Season 2, I feel like they just dropped a random person at the end for shock value. Season 3 was alright, even though Loretta told us who it was when she said "Poison is a woman's weapon choice".

I'm definitely loving S4 more than S3, the character interactions are so entertaining. Also Eva Longoria does not look her age 😩

Lester is the one leaving the notes I'm watching you. End the pod cast. Lester also returns Charles hat in season one when they are following Mabel and brings Charles missing suit bag in season 4 when he talks about modeling with a gimp mask. He has keys to all the apartments to place the cameras. He is a actor.

The scratched out photo is Loretta!!! The photo shows pig tails and this episode brings it home with Loretta and Charles sister wearing pig tails to copy Olivers description on f Loretta… Loretta was a Westy and perhaps she even lived in that apartment for a while until she left. We do not know the whole backstory with Loretta.

Also as a sidebar if Loretta and Oliver got together, then I dynamic threesome would become a foursome and I don’t think the writers want that, and I’m not sure Meryl Streep wants to be tied to the series for the coming years. Now why Loretta is in the photo well does that make her a murderer time will tell. The fact that the note for Jan said I am watching you is probably because of Loretta living across the building.

Rudy wrote the same style of the letter E on his naughty list as with the threatening note to Oliver

This season has definitely been amazing with its plot twist and I love that every episode it is answering and bringing more light to everything that has happened since season one. This is why I literally told my friend you can’t start this show from anywhere but season 1.

This season is kinda giving reminisce of season one. Because it was a sub plot within the plot. So with finding out who potentially killed dudenoff who killed sazz. It makes me want to rewatch season one. But I think the reveal this time will be somebody we didn’t know or didn’t suspect. With entire break down to why from season 1 to now what’s been going on and why this has been happening potentially. It still makes me think then what would season five be. Would it be a manhunt of finding the actual killer since they will more the likely reveal it in this season.

this episode confirmed its links to the first season and that Sazz was indeed the target. Just like in the other seasons, I believe that the people of the West are in their own sub-plot and the killer is not from there.
However, there are some points: The hole made by the shot in the window is considerably low enough to hit Sazz's heart, perhaps it could have been a drone? And during the tour of Sazz's house it is possible to see a ticket from Los Angeles airport to NY with the name Helga written on it. Could Helga be hiding in the city? How did Sazz know about this ticket?

This episode points to Loretta being involved with the Westies. She was playing with her braids as shown in the Westies picture. I believe she could have killed Dudenoff

but do we know for sure that the Westie's did it??? i believe the murder(s) and the checks are unrelated... but are the killer(s) and the "deaths" of Dudenoff and Sazz related? are we looking at two unrelated murders and two different sets of killers; or are we looking at two related murders and the same killer(s)???

What if marshal is the killer? What if he was watching the trio this entire time and thats why his script is so accurate and he literally describes the way that oliver walks.
