Dr. Crawford. It would be awsome if make a video where you talk about the varangian guard. The Norse warriors who served as the personal bodyguards of byzantine emperors.

Thank you Dr. Crawford, I really enjoyed both your books. You're like the scholarly companion to the tv show providing context and a more grounded view point. As someone who grew up on a ranch in rural Nevada and who also loves Norse tales I can strongly relate to your Cowboy Havamal.

Regner is in fact also mentioned in the Frankish Annals. Niels Lund has made an interesting analysis of the foreign policy of Horek (Erik) of Denmark that includes Regner's role.

Mate, you should read Finnegans Wake. What you could fine in there, with what Joyce did and what he drew upon and from, especially with your background in historical linguistics, not to mention the norse influence on Ireland, I think you'd have a ball. Either way, love the channel, Dr. Crawford. Njal's Saga makes much more sense in context. Much appreciated.

Thank you for everything you do, Dr. Crawford. Have you considered publishing another translated book maybe of the Prose Edda or other sagas like Heimskringla? I'd definitely buy those as well if you ever did!

Excellent video, Professor. I think I stumbled onto your channel some months back, but didn't book mark it, or subscribed. I've now corrected that oversight and . . . just went on line and purchased both of you books. Looking forward to reading them and seeing more of your videos. Thanks for the lessons!

When I hear the translation of Lothbrok, I can't help but think of Shawshank Redemption "What say you fuzzy britches?!"

Would you ever do an audiobook of any of the books you mentioned at the end? I have untreated adhd and I’d appreciate a passive listening option, or an ebook.

if ormr can be used for worm snake and dragon, why not use dragon since he will gain the ormr-i-auga due to slaying a dragon?
