The record labels answer to the new digital age in music is the 360 deal. 360° deals are contracts that allow the record label to receive a percentage of the earnings from all of the artist's activities rather than just earnings from record sales. 360 deals, also called "multiple rights deals," are contracts where the record labels earn a percentage of the artist's ancillary rights.

I’m a artist. Signed a deal, got dropped because of bad marketing and management. Now I gotta start all the way over, had to take all my music down. It’s life, but I love music.

There are no Pros to 360 deals only Cons. Stay independent..share your music on social platforms, promote yourself by been active on social media doing music challenges & freestyles & tag..with a little u can hire digital marketers who will boost your online presence. You may not be as famous as the mainstream but u sure would make more money than them.

I would rather be independent and have 5 listeners a month then have 500 million listeners on a 360 deal. Reality check. Music is a hobby. Money is a bonus!

Not sure why everybody in the comment section is so scared of this. Surely you can't possibly think that you keep every penny for the resources the labels can provide for you, like interviews, first dibs at doing certain shows, endorsement opportunities and all that?? You're gonna have to compensate for those services. It's almost impossible for us to do so on our own. So why not let them speed it up for you and take their cut?? After a couple years, after you've already been established with their help, THEN you can go independent and continue making good money and doing all your own business, granted you were smart enough to build your own relationships in the process while being signed.

Instead of having manipulating pricks and so-called 'yes men'; Wouldn't it just be better to manage your music career yourdelf? Surely it can be done via hard work, patience, and perseverance.

More like, "If you're offered a 360 deal, treat it like drugs and just say no"

Majority of artists now will have a 360 deal purely because the label won't offer them anything else. Also, as shitty as this type of deal is, it's also probably better than the old one due to the fact that the label will actually work harder to make sure you turn a profit so that they can make money too. They'll want a return on their investment asap thus, kicking the machine into overdrive which will work to the artists advantage.

I heard Summer Walker has a 360 deal. How long do these contracts last and will you be able to own your own name and get royalties once you leave the company and do not renew the contract.

Focus on mastering in creating good content. Fame and money will shortly follow afterwards.

50% of something is better than 100% of nothing. That’s how I look at it. I’m sure there are plenty of label’s who are worth their share of partnership earnings. A record label is a business partnership, you both succeed (or fail) together. It probably only stinks if you get stuck in a contract with a label that didn’t pull their weight. I could consider a 360 deal only if the label provided a lot more value than just acting like a bank to fund my music creations.

The Bay Area and Southern rap artists figured the game out light years before anybody else. People like E-40, Too $hort, Master P, J. Prince and Baby Williams saw that if a label is willing to offer you something like this, then you’re worth a whole lot more they are offering. Independent is a hard grind, but it’s worth it in the end if you’re willing to put in the work and accept the risks.

I'm an up n coming artist and I signed a 359 degree deal. My manager said it was a good deal cos he said he works for the label so it's like having an inside man but loyal to me. He said it's not a 360 deal cos I will get 100% of every CD sold! But the rest is like a 360.... Winning!

Keep working independently a 360 deal is a deal with the devil

The major label's 360 deals, is just their way of legally stealing from artists. To quote Underground Hip Hop artist, Immortal Technique, "I rather have alot of a little instead a little of alot".

Music Industry: 360° Record Deals in Music - Explained

360° record deals, also known as full-service or multifaceted deals, are a type of contract in the music industry that goes beyond the traditional recording agreement between a record label and an artist. These deals encompass not only the recording and distribution of an artist's music but also their merchandise, live performances, and other revenue streams such as endorsements, publishing, and branding opportunities, giving the label a share of these earnings as well. While these deals can provide artists with more financial security and resources, they also give the label greater control over the artist's career and may limit their creative freedom and long-term financial prospects if not negotiated carefully.
