Band of Brothers, The Pacific two great movies about an incredible generation. My dad also served in the war with the Marines. He made beach landings on Peleliu and Okinawa. I remember as a kid, like all boys do, asking him about the war. He didn't talk much about it until I asked him, "what was the worst battle you were in" without hesitation he said, "Peleliu".
I am not worthy to carry that mans boots. God rest his soul.

My dad was in the Rolling 89th infantry. Was one of the guys who discovered Camp Ohrdruf. He never would speak of the war. Ever. Not until shortly before he died. He was tired, wrinkled and worn down as most old men are. Tears welled up in his eyes when he finally told me the one thing he could never get over was "the way the place smelled" He passed away about a month later. He was a very polite and quiet type who disliked guns and fireworks. And he carried it inside him for the rest of his life. He had more leadership ability in his thumb than I have been able to muster in my 60 years on this earth. I think my dad was a hero.

Both my grandfathers fought at Gallipoli in WW1 and never talked about what they seen. Never forget their bravery, but always remember the fallen. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

My father served in the army during WWII and my uncle was a Tuskegee Airman. They rarely talked about this time until the end of their lives. Both great men that I owe all that I am to.

Am I the only one who still sees all the cast today as their roles in Band of Brothers every time I see them in other movies ??

Nobody seems to have remembered the man that composed the absolutely brilliant soundtrack of Band of Brothers. Rest in Peace Michael Kamen (April 15, 1948 – November 18, 2003) and thank you.

I am Russian. My father likes to tell a story that his father told him. Unfortunately, I did not know my grandfather, he died before I was born. He fought in the Soviet army and reached Berlin. He talked about the day when they met Soviet and American troops met near the Elbe River, south of Berlin. He talked about how Americans were treated to a meal hungry Soviet soldiers and they were glad that met a cross Berlin on both sides. This day is called "Elbe Day". Today I finished watching this beautiful show of bravery of American soldiers and the terrible war. It seems to me that the people began to forget how terrible war. We must keep this in mind so as not to start World War III. Sorry for my English.

Dick WInter is the epitome of what a true leader is. His actions always spoke louder than his words. LEAD BY EXAMPLE

I loved the series, Band of Brothers”. I am fortunate to live not far from Toccoa, Georgia. I ran up Currahee Memorial Day and again on the 4th of July. You can feel the spirit and ghosts of the heroes of Toccoa. Very errie and stimulating. I continually think about that generation of soldiers and wonder how many are running beside me. Truly the greatest generation.

What is so tragic in 2019 is almost all of these heroes have passed away. We must remember these men and remember why they are called "The Greatest Generation".

I was born in 1947. All my life I have lived in freedom in my homeland The Netherlands (Holland). I am very aware that thanks to the American soldiers, like the men from Easy-compagny, I can celebrate that freedom every day. Everytime during my stay in Normandie I pay tribute to those men and the numerous others on the cimetaries there.
Because of the suffering of those men I realize that we must never take our freedom for granted.
A thousand thanks to you!

My grandfather fought his way from Normandy to Berlin and is a hero as was your grandfather. He just left this world on thanksgiving. I will miss him forever as he was truly a hero of this country and to his family.

“In thinking back on the days of Easy Company, I’m treasuring my remark
to a grandson who asked, ‘Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?’

‘No, ’ I answered, ‘but I served in a company of heroes.‘”

I tear up just reading the words. When i see Winters say these words at the end I lose it every single time.

Whenever I've seen the series, and then come to the end of the documentary. When Winters tells about talking to his grandchildren: "Grandpa, are you a hero?" "No", I answered, "But I served in a company of heroes"

That get's me every time, while cutting unions of course.
