If you are interested in taking lessons with me, you can go to my website.

In this video, I give five reasons as to why people learning English shouldn't rely on LinguaMarina's channel to provide accurate content.

I don't understand content like 'Don't say this, say that'. Using simple vocabulary like good, bad, sad, happy is perfectly fine. Then you can add more advanced words for more detailed meaning. Simple words are always good for speaking. Saying 'Don't use them' is insane.

Marina is a youtuber who can speak English language, but Kevin and Liza are native certified English language teachers (period). (Hobbyists vs. Professionals)

Yeah. The problem is that Marina used to believe she has the authority to correct mistakes and then she misleads people by giving them the wrong information. How on earth can I watch her videos and trust her now? I rather watch another videos to have a better chance to get things right.

Hi, Dave! It's a very courageous act to admit your mistake and apologize to Lisa. I appreciate it.

Thank you. Actually, we need someone who can show stop us from consuming misleading content, which is mostly created just because of clickbait

I totally agree with your estimate. Marina has C1-C2 level. She has no education related to teaching. And she makes too many mistakes while speaking. So it is a very bad idea to learn any foreign language with her

There are so many useful phrases in your video, like:

- it can be a little bit misleading

- I haven't heard enough of her English to make that determination

- They do nitpick every little thing

- I am reflecting on myself, looking back and saying, you know, I could have toned it down a little

- as far as exposing LM for the mistakes that she makes

-a bad taste joke on my part

- take it with a grain of salt

- somebody came up to me. If somebody told me they were disappointed, I'd probably punch them in the face

- the meanings don't actually match up

- people will look at you in a confused way

- in fairness to her, she is not the only culprit when it comes to this

Hey Dave! Thanks for taking us on a linguistic adventure through St. Louis while sharing your candid thoughts on Linguamarina. It's refreshing to see beautiful places like Lafayette Square that go beyond the usual suspects of San Francisco and New York City. Keep spreading the English love and providing insightful critiques with your trademark wit. Looking forward to more of your videos!

You are right a word can have many and different meanings it depends on the context.we can give synonyms out of context but it must be specified that the word to be chosen will be determined by the overall meaning of the situation or give example sentences ❤

Thank you for bringing up LM's incompetence and drawing attention to this fact. It is important who you listen to who you learn from🙏
I wish Marina courage to accept it wisely and learn from it.

As for the subject matter, I think most Russian speakers will intuitively get an odd vibe when they hear Marina speak Russian (she does sound fake in Russian).

Also, apart from English courses, she sells some dubious courses, like promoting yourself on youtube or getting a US degree.

Another thing is, she claims to have entered all or most Ivy League universities but she never graduated, and possibly, never went there. Also she claims to have scored 117 out of 120 on TOEFL, but again there is no certificate of hers to be found anywhere🙈It feels like she might be on the narcissist spectrum, as she uses lies and manipulations, and fake smiles to get what she wants, and she has this sense of grandiosity and a vulnerable ego when it comes to criticism.

Thank you Dave for your comprehensive review of the Lingva Marina channel! I impressed that you was able to change a vantage point to the English for Everyone channel!

Thanks for the video, you do make the impression of an expert who has the right to judge. As to all those fraudsters in ELT -- anyone trying to teach something to someone without having duly fundamental basic knowledge of it, deserves neither tolerance nor respect. I wish you and your channel to thrive

For me it looks like a hype right now. No one talked about Marina when she wasn’t so popular and right now all youtubers are trying to mention her in every video and comment on her pronunciation, vocab etc. Every info has to be double checked, especially the one that is provided on YouTube, cuz everyone can download whatever they want. As far as I see it, we have to create more wonderful and useful content, and not concentrate on hate and constant criticism.

Hi, Dave! I dicovered your channel just a few days ago and definitely like it. Your grammar explanations are amazing, and your views on LinguaMarina and English for everyone (which I watch a lot)) are interesting. The only problem with Marina Mogilko (as I see it) is thet she is NOT a native English speaker. She comes from Russia, so Russian is her mother tongue. In my opinion, she should teach English only for Russian speaking learners of B1-b2 and lower. I speak Russian and learn English. At that I watch lessons only of native English speakers as I consider my level quite high. On the other hand, I try to learn German as a beginner, and I watch only Russian speaking teachers because at this level it makes sence. As for Kevin and Lisa, Lisa is Russian and her name is pronounced as [li:za].

I absolutely love Kevin & Lisa and I'm a C1 - C2 speaker eager to polish my English and become more confident using it in all sorts of situations including everyday situations that I'm not familiar with as I don't live in the US or the UK. (I'm probably better at discussing politics in English than for instance ordering coffee! 😂)
