After a severe weight loss in 1985 I developed signs of this disorder along with clinical depression. I was treated with haldol. It lasted about a year, then slowly vanished after I gained weight and started eating and sleeping normally, plus relaxing. I have not had symptoms since and my doctor called it acute psychosis resulting from severe depression during my divorce. It must be a living hell to live with this for a lifetime. I heard voices constantly and had some delusions. Thank God I am free of this.

Wow. I didn't know someone could have schizophrenia because of poor family interaction during childhood. Thats so sad.

Imagine what humans from before the enlightenment period thought about schizophrenia. I couldn't imagine trying to explain it to anyone.

Nice explanation, thx! And yeah, folks working in Mental Health or Social Services will often observe 'patterns' across the rest of the family as well, so there must be an additional 'genetic' component... aka, "The apple seldom falls far from the tree."

Its a success pattern. Things they succeed in doing but through self defeat fail them. It would actually help alot of patients with their exploitation cases.

Just want to add that the very last thing he discussed is referred to as the downward drift hypothesis. Good luck everyone.

Regarding the point mentioned at 12:52 about the psychosocial cause, it's no longer believed it's true. it is used to be called "schizophrenogenic mother" where family members (bw 1940-1970)  thought that their early relationship w/ their children may contribute to this disorder, but then after some research, this belief was proven invalid.

Nicely explained. Do you think thin myelin sheath covering on the neurons could result in the smaller size of brain areas and contribute to the condition?

Good video; but nothing more annoying than actually having to wait for them to write the words. I like the new videos where they talk and write at the same time.

You can literally hallucinate objects and beings into existence because what's happening is you're tapping into that pure abstract creative potential of mind. That's exactly what you want. Of course it can be kind of freaky but a psychedelic is that times a thousand.
