The Central Did get its loops eventually, The White City loop for the extension to the exhibition via Shepherd's Bush, and the Hainault loop thanks to the GER lines takeover

I always tend to circle back to your videos. Loving your videos man! I'm not a Londoner, not even a Brit. just a Dutch guy that loves making videos about metro's too. But I always watch your videos haha

The Tube now could be so different if all these proposals had worked out and passed those bills. An Albert Hall would have been great, I always missed one when going to gigs there. Fascinating stuff, Jago!

Can you imagine back in those days, trying to get from one end of the city to the other and having to purchase 6 different train tickets. Planning a route would have been a daunting task.

Sttikes me that Post Office, Bank, Mansion House would have been a Mind-the-Gap curve on steroids ... Keep up the stellar work, Jago.

Interesting that the Parliamentary approval process appears to have resulted in a sensible outcome in this case. Given the explosion of above ground lines during the period of Railway Mania and the resultant duplication of routes, stations etc. what we have ended up with beneath London's paved streets of gold appears to be rather well though out by comparison.

Electric trains are still scary, not perhaps as scary as a train with hundreds of moving parts and a huge fire inside heating tons of water to fantastic temperatures under increadable pressure, but still scary nonetheless.

Well, that story got us all wound up!

The circle line made sense though because it connected all the places people went to within the center of London. The circle also crisscrossed other lines which meant it would've brought business to them as well. Unfortunately, everyone was out for themselves and competing like big fish in a tiny puddle of water.

It's a good thing that JP Morgan didn't get involved as deeply as he could have. In the 1910s, he controlled the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, (New Haven for short) and the Boston and Maine (B&M for short). These two railroads, within New England were friendly with the New Haven staying south and the B&M staying to the north. During this time, the B&M ran into an issue with smoke building up in the famous Hoosac Tunnel, a nearly 5 mile bore through the Hoosac Mountains. The solution for this was electrification and the New Haven had the technology since they had already electrified their lines entering into New York City and assisted the B&M in electrifying their tunnel.

With the New Haven's help, including the building of box cab locomotives, the B&M electrified the line between Hoosac Station on the east and North Adams in the west in 1910. The locomotives worked as shuttles to bring the trains through the tunnel and reduce the dangerous and sometime fatal smoke. At the time, the line saw nearly 100 trains a day, which isn't the case now. The electrification lasted until 1946 when the B&M started dieselizing their railroad.

The New Haven and B&M had additional plans to electrify the system with all the suburban territory around Boston to be put under wires, and in some places such as Lynn and Swampscott, the Eastern Railroad lines were quad tripled. The electrification was to extend as far west as Deerfield where the New Haven had a branch that connected to the B&M, and there were plans to extend the catenary from New Haven to Boston. That didn't happen until the early 2000s when that was done for the Northeast Corridor project. Well, the great plans weren't to be. In 1916, JP Morgan ran out of cash and faced bankruptcy during the panic. In order to preserve his wealth, he pulled all the money out of the railroads and bankrupted them.

With that said, imagine what kind of damage he could have caused.

Jago another insight to "what might had been" projects. As you indicated a lot of big egos involved clashing behind the scenes. What you help to remind people is how much these projects relied on getting approval in Parliament. Nothing changes as the original "Crossrail" bill failed to get approval and we had to wait many years before the Elizabeth Line came into fruition. Keep the candle burning reading all those documents in the archives.

The Morgan Tube covers similar ground, its stations & route being Hammersmith Broadway - Warwick Road - Earl's Court Road - High Street, Kensington - Albert Hall - Knightsbridge - Hyde Park Corner - Albemarle Street - Piccadilly Circus - Charing Cross - Law Courts - Ludgate Circus - Cannon Street - Monument - Bishopsgate Street Without - Hackney Road - Kingsland Road - Stamford Road - Arcola Street - Church Street - Amhurst Park
- Seven Sisters Road, Tottenham - The Avenue, Tottenham - Lordship Lane - White Hart Lane - Chequers Green - Palmer's Green - High Street, Southgate - Chase Side, Southgate. Kind of the Piccadilly and Victoria rolled into one and a bit meandering. Although there was a suggestion it would have express & locals along the New York model.

"St Mary Axe" The name congers up the need for a Jago video of explanation. Perhaps it was the real reason the idea got the chop!
