The year is almost over the companies continue to put out crap that we don't want they refused to give us an HF UHF VHF 100 watt radio nobody wants to do qrp nobody and those that do just like to be abused punish other people by making them struggle to try and copy their weak signal the only reason to do qrp is to reduce the footprint and the weight for portable operations and there's a balance between power weight and portable qrp has very few advantages over a 20-watt g90 or something like an ft-891 that you could turn down to 50% or whatever you want to do I've done plenty of portable work and I can tell you qrp is a gigantic waste of time unless you want to drive yourself nuts and I'm sure some fanatic is going to chime in here and tell me that I need to do this and I need to do that well guess what I want consistent reliable Communications okay I don't want to be qrp when the world is going down in flames and I'm trying to make a contact I don't want to be trying to contact somebody in the middle of a natural disaster with some piece of crap 5 watt radio that I have to scream into the microphone to be heard reliable comms not a big fan of sadomasochism radio crap not a big fan of making somebody struggle to copy me and brag about I worked them on one what like great you made everybody have a hard time hearing you and wasting everybody's time when the contact could have been made in a quarter of the amount of time it's about efficiency not stupidity. Anyway my point is the big radio manufacturers are not giving anybody what they're asking for we want 100 W radio reminiscent of the old Icom 706 is the yasu 857 radios like that

Xiegu would do well to make a 50 or 100 watt version of the G90.

Merry Christmas and a great New Year to you too Sir. If the Japanese would combine the 705 with the best features of the G-90 ( it would be unstoppable)!

I have a question about the 710. Is it normal when using DNR to hear some crackling while someone is talking. I notice it between 2-7 at 8 it goes away. I don't have a lot of experience maybe it's normal.
Also, just experimenting with settings I notice that if I use notch with NB I get weird static. Do you experience any of this? Thank you.

Your audio opinions are very narrow and mostly subjective.
This came up as suggested to me and i watched10 minutes and was done.
Im extremely opinionated but try to explore others thoughts and above all, respect opinions that are different from mine.
I wish you the best with your channel

its so funny how many opinions on these things. Bob Heil helped design the audio circuits in the yeasu radios. The dx10 is still the best radio on the mid-level market

AMEN 🙏 brother…. Nothing wrong with store bought, but BUILD STUFF TOO. As for the SIDEBAND WIDE BAND MOB …. also agree, they make out like they are shock jocks on commercial talk back radio …. Which once again is fine as long as they don’t proselytise their religion. I once popped in to say hi and was told I was 200 hz off freq and my audio was so so… I was on a 50 Yr old Kenwood TS520!!! Running 100 w they were all running megawatts!!! 😂 73 enjoyed the video de VK2AOE

Your video rant was interesting but flawed. You lament amateur radio enthusiasts going out and just buying stuff, saying that you would rather experiment around in the shack, then criticize Hermes Lite and Thetis. The Hermes Lite 2 Plus and Thetis has the best noise reduction I have ever heard. It puts Kenwoods, Icom and Yaesu to shame, and for pennies on the dollar. But there is a learning curve, we call it doing down the rabbit hole. I understand your point about your lack of love for PC based rigs, but they work great and using a computer chip to do the heavy lifting for the transceiver is an idea whose time has come. I find SDR radios an amazing new world to explore, with open source software whole communities are developing. The idea that you can improve a radio with simple updates is also pretty cool. Do the major radio suppliers listen to us? I don't think flooding the market with 500 watt LDMOS HF transceivers is wanted by anyone. And please, don't criticize people who buy expensive radios, the profits from this R&D work trickle down to radios like the 710 and 7300. These are great radios and a tremendous value considering all the features they offer. You tout the 710, then say the transmit audio is terrible. To me, how I sound is paramount when doing SSB. The Xiegu G90 really checks all the boxes for many people, good receive, decent audio, all mode operation, 20 watts and the best antenna tuner I have ever used. So, 710, 7300 and G90 top my list for 2024.

My problem with Yaesu radios is the use of the delicate ethernet connector on the microphone.

One ic-7300, two ic-7610. Looking forward to the PW-2. No regrets on the Icom. It’s the Ford vs. Chevy argument, but now it is

Good Rant. Ergonomics are important to me. The 710 does have an awesome receiver. If you may want a shack in the box pay more for a 991A. Thats my rant LOL 73 de WA3RSL

Dude…what made you think that you had the temperament to do YouTube Videos? Nothing personal, but I disagree with most of what you say and found your tendency towards profanity ridiculous. You’re such a bitter individual. So much so that I concentrated on your ranting, rather than the video. BTW, I love my two DX10’s and I may just pick up a 7300 for the sake of it. 😁 Good luck!

i've had my tech license for a few months now and this is why i am not in a big hurry to take the general test. that $15 test is gonna cost me a whole helluva lot more to get a good HF radio. with all the cash i've spent on GMRS radios and dual band radios, antennas and HT, my accountant would toss my ass down to the basement to sleep. which, i guess would be ok for a couple of days because that is where i have all built my shack.

The legacy Ham radio companies suck… I am hoping the influx of cheap imports will force them to change, because if they don’t they will go out of business eventually.

Totally agree with you I got back into this after 30years and can't believe how fragmented and gimmicky it has become i posted as much as fing possible about what we want and why when john krupp from yeasu is on ham radio 2.0 dosent jason drill him a new ass for not giving us a 100 watt all mode unh vhf hf mobile radio i mean for christ sake it's almost 2025 and if you think noobs are going to stack radios and f with wires all over their car you surely mistaken. Give us a bulletproof radio and fuck all the wiz bang bullshit scopes and touch display crap that we all know is never going to work 10 years from now.
