FYI: Your audio setup is most likely not configured for hearing tests, so this test is probably highly inaccurate and I recommend you go to an actual doctor to check your hearing if you're concerned. Your digital to analog converter(s), your amplifier(s), your headphones/speakers, your OS' audio output architecture, the software and programming used, the audio file's format, bitrate, etc. will all affect the output of the sound.

I had my volume all the way up, and the music at the end scared the life out of me. Like seriously...

I was just trying to see if my headphones were broken lol

It should really be explained in the video but the average upper limit for an adult is around 15-17khz... so if you stop hearing them at that point, there's nothing wrong with your hearing. Volume warning for 1:11 though, that COULD damage your hearing.

If I didn't have a hearing problem before, I definitely do now XD

I watched this video twice now. Last night and now, between then I had to get earwax removed (I couldn't hear as much from my right ear) the difference between then and now is clear. This was actually really helpful!

This test is great! I combined it with a tone generator I found on the web, and between the two I have a good understanding of my slow, steady decline since first diagnosed 11 years ago at my ENT DR.

My left ear taps out at 10.4kHz, and my right at 8kHz (per the tone generator). This vid shows me that my left is slightly stronger than my right even at 500, 2.5k and 7k. And both ears do not hear anything at 7kHz at -36db.

So far I have no issues in everyday life, including conversations at a table in a restaurant with significant background noise. I think when I start to tap out at 5kHz I will have issues and see an audiologist for hearing aids.

Also guys don’t freak out if it seems like one of your ears work better than the other it’s very common but if your worried I recommend going to the doctor if it’s severe, Ik going deaf or blind is very scary trust me I understand and I even struggle with the fear but do not worry these things happen and you can function with it yes your going to have to adapt to your new life but it’s apart of growing up. I hope this helped someone ❤️

Pro tip turn the earbuds upside down and switch which ears they’re in. If the same side as before still sounds quieter then it’s your ears not your earbuds.

Yeah, something is definitely wrong with my left ear, i got it totally cleaned out a couple days ago after a build up of wax but still noticed sound was more quiet in my left ear and this proved it. I could only hear some sounds with my right

To be honest, also the quality of your headphones should play a role here, so I wouldnt worry too much about the result. THAT BEING SAID, starting at 2:07 I couldn't hear anything at all anymore until end of video. Before everything fine left and right.

This was the balance test I was looking for...thanks. It confirms what I thought. My left ear is rolling off quicker than the right. This must be why I have needed to increased my left speaker by 1.5 dbs. And even then the central image is still slightly to the right. Mind you I am 74 years old! I would not be at all surprised if it is to do with using a mobile phone on the left ear, all that radiation can't be good!

at 16k my right ear was silent, I think I blew it out back in Jan this year, it started to itch really badly one night when listening to loud af bass boosted dubstep and then in the morning my hearing was panned mostly to the left

My right ear is so messed up. I can hear everything perfectly fine in my left ear, but im nearly half deaf in my right😅

(Edit) I just got surgery in my right ear and I'll be able to fully hear in it in a couple months!!

(Edit 2) So it's been a few months since surgery, and the hearing got better-ish, but for some reason out of no where it will just hurt. The feeling kinda feels like a cut on my ear drum. The thing is, I've been feeling this weird pain since 6th grade, and I'm in 10th now. I figured the surgery would help with the pain but it didn't, and my hearing is just getting worse and worse over time.

For those wondering what was wrong with my ear, I had gotten tubes in 7th grade, about 6 months after I had started feeling that cutting pain and hearing less. The tubes helped with my hearing for a little while, but didn't help with the pain whatsoever, and even made it worse. The thing is, tubes are supposed to fall out on there own, and my left one did after around 10 or 12 months. And after that, my left ear stopped hurting. But around mid-freshmen year, my right tube still hadn't fallen out, and the pain increased while my hearing decreased. So that's when we went to a doctor and he said that my ear drum had grown over my tube. So my tube was literally inside my ear drum, and the surgery was to cut it open and get it out.

4 months later, the pain is still there, and will probably be there forever. And my hearing is decent, but I still can't fully hear out of it, and it's getting worse over time.
