I very rarely write comments on YouTube.
I was getting decent results with moving couple of sliders in Lightroom, but I never was able to even get the similar photo look in Darktable so it can at least look like photo in Lightroom without any edits done by me.
First ten minutes showed me how to get the very similar result with Darktable as i had with Lightroom with basic edits, then I continued to watch till end and it was well worth it.

I'm put off by Lightroom's subscription model, and I really want something that will run on Linux, so I've never used Lightroom and don't plan to start using it any time in the near ever. That being the case, I'm not sure what compelled me to watch this video. Wow, am I glad that I did! I've been beating my head against a wall trying to figure out how to effectively use Darktable for *months* now, and I just can't seem to get any traction. I've read through the initial chapters of the Darktable user's manual, and I've watched many videos about Darktable editing on YouTube, and nothing has gotten through to me. Then along comes this video. This is the clearest most concise description of a usable Darktable workflow I've ever seen. Thank you! And, as a bonus, I now get why one would want to make additional instances of a module, and FINALLY have a basic understanding of per-module masks. This has really been a great help! Thank you so much!

Well this is actually extremely easy to use, just as easy as lightroom, like that was overwhelming on first use untill you realize 'oh you just go through all these options on this panel and at the end you're done', with this however it seems even more so until you hear in this video that you just have modules that do the same thing as in lightroom and you turn them on, you just have to know what they're called. Like seriously this video made me go from knowing 0 of darktable to knowing basically everything I need. Thank you immensely.

Very good tutorial. I've just saved it to my Fav YT videos for future reference. You did a fantastic job explaining a usable workflow, that is what I think Darktable is lacking, a clear path to develop an image from beginning to end. I come from Lightroom (and tired of Adobe's policies), and this info is invaluable.

Many thanks for the Tutorial, I’ve been putting of diving in to learn Darktable workflow, long time photoshop and camera raw user here, not happy with Adobe Subscription model so this helps with alternative choices.

Thanks! Coming from LR, I've been looking for a guide through the tools that SIMPLIFIES the process and tools in Darktable! I wish the devs would create a simpler interface. If you want super detailed/complex tools, you can enable them. Not the other way around. As is, it's way too complicated to do simple stuff!
