From Leo: One problem with pick guard mounted pickups is on set neck guitars where the string angle over the body is extreme. The pickup cannot be parallel to the strings. I have had gibsons where even tapered pick up rings were not enough, and I had to grind more taper in them to get the whole pickup within spec. That does make a difference in tone. SG's with pick guard mounted pickups are cumbersome to try to tilt them the right angle.

Regarding the quick-connects and swappable pickups, I think that's what Phil McKnight is thinking regarding a massive pickup shootout. I might have that wrong, but either way it would be a cool thing to try.

I was thinking about doing the interchangeable pick guard thing myself but I'm having a hard time deciding on which body style to use.

What's inside my Gold Lace Sensors? Same question for my Gary Clark Jr.SG with 3 P90 "S" pickups (N, M, B are different specs). These pickups have slugs instead adjustment screws.

could you possibly touch upon gotoh bridges and if there's any setup differences like for floating them and possibly how to wire 5 way switches with splits in future videos? or if any have been done already? thanks for all you do I have learned tons and can't wait to apply more on my new build. I'm using a mini hum bridge and single middle and neck and have 1 volume 1 push pull tone and 5 way switch and little bit confused with the wiring not so much how to solder but where I'm putting all the wires. They are Di' Marzio notorious pickups and the diagrams aren't very helpful.

The cts pot thing. I have ordered them from e bay and the showed up at my house loose in bubble wrap and they tested so far apart. So yeah they are out there.

I have GE Smith telecaster which has the bridge pup mounted into the wood, and I firmly believe it sounds different to teles where it is mounted into the bridgeplate. But I attribute that to the metal bridgeplate. It sounds less shrill ( although it is quite a hot pup, and less prone to feedback at volume ). Maybe its just me, lol.

What’s your opinion on Phil x’s take on jr’s vs specials. He claims there to be a difference in sound, that he attributes to a lack of a neck pickup’s magnetism on the strings. Based on a previous answer you’ve done, it seems you don’t think there’s enough magnetic pull from the pickup for it to effect the strings? Could it be the lack of other things in the circuit? Or is it just a mental thing?

I'm interested in winding my own pickups, but trying to find material suppliers has been a bit of a pain. Stewmac's prices are ridiculous as to be expected, mojotone seems to be ok overall, ordering stuff from aliexpress or some other chinese retailer could be a crapshoot, just wondering what others there are out there with reasonable prices for low quantities for me to practice with. Thanks!

Is it worth experimenting with a humbucker by grounding the first coil set? Would that make a decent single coil? I have a set of stock HBs that I don't care for and don't mind if I damage them, but I don't want to waste my time either if this is just a dumb idea.

I believe I sw that same potting method on one of the StewMac vids. I know I've seen someone else do it when building a pickup on YT.
