Thank you for the video! Can you please explain the mechanics of initially grabbing the wrist palm up? I think I understand why, but your insight matters more.

You can start with palm down too. Just because Danaher starts with palm up doesn’t mean you need to also😅

This submission won’t work against skilled opponents!!! You’re leaving yourself open to be bridged over with all your weight on one side. Even if you keep the arm locked all they have to do is lie flat to escape it after they’ve bridged. You need to be very lucky and strong to pull this off against someone with a decent amount of experience

Why is a thumbless grip better than a C-grip(with the thumb)?

I am 49 in pretty good shape, no injuries and I was a national champion amateur boxer in my teens. Just wondering if 49 is too old to start doing jujitsu? Not to compete obviously but just to learn the art form and four physical fitness. I know you’re never too old to start anything but is 49 too old to really learn the hard form and will it be too hard on my body? I am an actual pretty young 49 my wife is 35 so I am not a broken down old man that’s for sure still 49 is 49. Any advice?

I started BJJ recently, why can't you grip with your thumbs?
