Flights from Manchester Airport's two main terminals were grounded after a "major power cut" led to huge delays for passengers.

Holidaymaker Lindsay Mitchell was hopeful she and her family would be able to fly to Turkey for a trip that had been planned for a year.

She told Sky News: "You have got to make the best of a bad situation. It's not the airline's fault, it's not Manchester Airport's fault, it's no one's fault, it's just one of those freaky things that happen in everyday life."

This amounts to a fundamental breach of contract, which under any other circumstances would give FULL compensation of ALL losses. The "Just one of these things" stoic approach lets the airport off the hook for not having any backup system.

Sat at home, feet up sipping wine, went outside and got some sun. Everything is gravy ( or Gavi )

Why bother with the stress

any commercial building worth its salt has redundancy. with duel supply ATS and Battery Backup. This is supposed to maintain power in an outage which prevents critical systems from turning off
