Sorry, I'm still confused. I'm based in NZ but will be going to Indonesia, Singapore, and Australia. So far I've converted some to the currency above. My question is, when I use the physical wise card (i.e. in Indonesia), do I just swipe the card or do I need to do something first for Wise to recognise that it's in Indonesia and that I want them to use the IDR instead of 'other' currencies? In that sense as well, I notice that on the app, there's a travel hub and it gives me an option of "spend like a local in "select currency"". What is this and whether I need to choose this depending on the country I'm in?

Thank you for your response in advance. Much appreciated.

Hi Chris, in your example say you HAD preloaded pounds

My understanding is if you were in UK it would have deducted pounds reading from your comments.

What about online purchases? If you book hotel, tickets, etc. for your UK trip from New Zealand. Will it deduct from your pound balance or charge you NZD with conversion fees?

Thanks

Chris How do I load money into Wise account?

Sorry I’m a bit late to the party! I read through comments and I don’t think anyone has asked this and I’m struggling to find info online.
I’m travelling to Argentina, but as the peso is fluctuating so much I’m being told to get USD in cash instead. I’m assuming I won’t be able to withdraw USD from an ATM, just Argentine pesos. And the legal rate from USD to Pesos is much lower than there “blue market” where there are people on the street exchanging USD to Pesos at a much better rate.
I have a feeling the wise card may be no good in Argentina for this reason!

If I have both GBP and AUD loaded, if I’m in Australia and use my Wise card will it automatically deduct from my AUD account?

I think I understand now. I was told something completely different. I am in Australia now. I have a Japanese currency balance and Australian currency balance. When I went to withdraw cash from the ANZ ATM yesterday I was expecting a prompt to say which currency do you want to withdraw the money from. Instead it took the money straight out of the Australian currency balance. So let's say there was not enough money in the Australian currency balance would it come out of the Japanese currency balance provided there was enough money in it? Say I am in Australia and had a USD Japanese and Singapore and Australian currency balances with WISE and I withdraw in AUD but not enough in my AUD balance would WISE always choose the best rate? So the best rate was USD so USD was chosen for the conversion.

I don't quite follow. I'm travelling in Sth America next year, and Europe. If I am say in Peru and I have currency loaded in Sol, but NZD loaded as well, what account does it take money from? Does it automatically deduct Sol or NZD, do I have to prompt one or the other? If I withdrew money from an ATM in Peru, would it take Sol out if I had Sol loaded or NZD?

Hey, I have one question
What is the difference between using a credit card from my home country (which apparantly does not charge any fees when paying directly in a foreign country) and paying with the Wise card? In my case, my own credit card would be more beneficial because it claims to not demand any additional fees or do I get it wrong?

I just tested my card here in NZ, chose “credit” as per instructions (which seemed wrong as it’s supposed to be a debit card) and transaction was declined as “invalid transaction” what happened?

Hi, just wondering if there is any fees for loading money to your wise card / account. Say for example I transfer $5000 AUD to the card. Will the full $5000 be available or is there a load fee?

Hi I have a question, for example I opened 3 accounts in my wise app- Singapore, New Zealand and Philippines then I travelled to Singapore from NZ to shop and eat using wisecard. Will the card automatically deduct my expenses using the Singapore account or do I need to setup anything to avoid using the other accounts NZ and the Ph accounts?if that makes sense. Thank you😊

Hi, thank you for the video! I just had a question I'm going to Japan for a few months and thought of taking a wise card especially to withdraw cash because Japan doesn't really take card for the most of the time. I then wanted to know once I've converted money into yen, if I want to withdraw it will I have another charges of conversion at the terminal, or will it detect the yen and I'll only have the wise withdrawal cost? Thank you in advance for your answer, I hope it's clear enough, have a nice day!

Sorry if this has already been answered, but if you had loaded GBP into your account and paid with GBP directly instead, would you have been charged with any fees like you were when paying with the NZD and Euros in your account? Thanks

When you travel to the U.S. what is the max amount of US$ you can withdraw from the Wise Debit Card? And what is the fee each withdrawal, e.g. for US$1000?
