Leoniya fled to Uganda from the Congo due to a war that killed everyone she knew. Having lost her husband and left her with two children, she managed to start from scratch and set up a mini retail shop in a storefront.

She says: "The loan really changed my life. I invested in the shop and the profits that I made are the ones that helped me to do farming."
