What to say in a pre-screening phone interview for a job.

The first call you get is an interview pre-screening call. The hiring person is checking to see if you are the kind of person who they want to bring in for an in-person or longer video interview. In this call the hiring person usually wants to know three things:

1. That you can do the job.
2. That you are still available.
3. That you are interested in the company and might be a good fit.

Here is another question you might get: The phone screener may ask you if you understand what the days and hour of the position are. I have heard of supervisors at my job make offers to candidates only to discover the person is not available nights and weekends.
