Why would you buy a console only to play phone games?

It was a pre-release console, the retail version is a dev kit too. There are patches that have already come out for it, there will be more up until release day. The console he reviewed is not finalized firmware/software speaking. The hardware though is final, but there isn't much to complain about there. The transparent ones were the prototype consoles. There are also standard looking ones, charcoal ones and brown.

One question I still have is, can you add to the storage in any way and will applications run off it?

This is what you call a review of the "best gadgets"? Sounds like you guys think it's pretty horrible.

I dunno, but what were you expecting from a $99 console that's just now being shipped to early backers? It doesn't officially hit retail until June.

That part's a little confusing, because they were talking about making a Tegra 4 "upgrade" in a years time. Basically 32Xing the unit, giving a new library section for improved hardware games that only work on the upgraded system, while still having the old system games available and accepted so the people who don't upgrade aren't left behind, but I'd like to know how easy that will be.

you guyz do know that tegra 4 started production after the ouya kickstarter right?

As for the device I really want to see how it runs and handles Xbmc. If it can be a 99 Xbmc box I'm buying one

Awesome, did you develop it specifically on the Ouya dev kit or port it?

The console and the controller are all final products and won't change in the short time till June. So this is actually a very accurate portrayal of what you'll get come the official release. The only thing that might change will be the software.

That wasn't a dev kit. That was the official retail version for the backers. The dev kit was clear. The kicktsarter versions are silver and brown and, the retail version is black.

The interface and software can be updated but I worry for my controller. They have stated they are looking for ways to improve the model shipping to stores less than a month after we receive ours, so we're basically screwed for helping them launch.

The dedicated followers are NOT the ones that should be stepped on to launch the OUYA.

Because you can play casual indie games on your PC, it's versatile remember.

Also, you can connect your PC to your TV via an HDMI cable, and you can sit comfortably on your couch / sofa with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

What about the multimedia applications of the Ouya? Can you use it as an streaming-box?

so having an extra option (trying before buying) makes it worse?
right...

Its not like you have to try it before you buy it, you can buy it outright.

This isn't the developer edition though... I is the consumer edition that is being sent out to kickstarter backers early

At a guess.... If it's powered by Android you may be able to use some network browsing apps to stream video content from a server or a seperate device, or he mentioned Netflix, YouTube should be fine too.

Guys this review was not considered by the developers of ouya because this is not a review unit they are still tweaking the software and I heard they will be working on the precision of the controller for more precise controls. the developers of ouya are kind of mad, this is not meant for public review yet because the software and games are not yet ready for the public give it another 60 or so days and it should be ready!

I recently purchased one (I think it will ship june 23rd), have you found any games that are worth playing?
Im going to use it to emulate all my old PSX, N64 and SNES games, and use it with xbmc, so the 99USD are well spent allready, but it would be nice to know that there in deed are some nice games..
