Fight for the Light - LOST EXPLAINED

A short video to stir your spirits in dark times. Fight for the light in your life.

Poem:
'Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night' written by Dylan Thomas
As read by Alfred Molina

Music:
'I Was So Sad the Day I Met You'
By Keegan DeWitt, Lisa Liu, The Unison Orchestra
From the motion picture 'Little Fish'

'Little Fish' is a quietly tragic love story about a young couple trying to hold onto one another as a memory loss virus sweeps across the world. It's a heart-wrenching drama that asks us to appreciate our loved ones in times of great struggle and suffering. Life and love can be all too fleeting. I highly recommend the movie.

I felt that the haunting melody and the hopeful notes that echo throughout the composition were a perfect fit for both the Dylan Thomas reading and the bittersweet emotions that LOST conjured in its series finale, and across its run.

When Desmond meets Jack in the Stadium and says "let me give you some advice anyway...you have to lift it up" and it seems as though he's not actually talking about his ankle, I thought was being called back to in the final moments of the show when the two are alone together in the source, and Jack literally has to lift up the cork, and put it back in place in order to prevent the world-ending disaster. I feel like they're sort of implying through Jack's laughing himself to tears whilst in the pool, that he now gets that message. And thus, he will indeed now see Desmond in another life as a result of their combined efforts.

For a while I thought that what they were trying to say here was that Desmond (possibly due to his exposure to the source) was experiencing another instance of his time-consciousness jumping, but this time, his mind temporarily leaped back in time to this pivotal meeting, and so he was able to deliver a message to Jack now, and this future self could interpret right before his death, giving him a sort of reassurance that he was indeed doing the right thing and was in the right place at the right moment...they don't really demonstrate that idea effectively though.

Great job on your content. Brilliantly edited and logically thought through and presented. I would totally back you on Patreon. You’ve actually made me think a lot about the show and re-consider some stuff. Have the show runners ever given hints as to the answers behind the cork and the source at all? I know you only concentrate on canon with the shows universe, but I thought maybe you’d come across something in your research. I just feel like your solution must be what they intended.

Looking at it now ten years on I have to applaud that they left some answers out as it’s created communities like the podcasts and Reddit as well as this channel. Leaving people to ponder answers has given it longevity. As Damon says who wants to see their version of the architect scene?!!

These videos are amazing. I saw the entire 6hours video.
One day you could perhaps make a video that tells the whole story in chronological order, season by season. So for eample you would not mention the words 'man in black' until they become a thing, and it'll be only the smoke monster for a while. The hatch will be a magical box until it is opened, etc. That's a crazy huge job but its an idea :)

Could you do a video on how Kate's trial makes no sense. She is being tried in California state court but committed no crimes in California. Iowa would want to try her for murder and the insurance fraud. For assaulting a federal officer, that would be a federal court, one of the ones that covers Iowa. For the bank robbery, that would be a federal court in New Mexico. For assaulting a police officer and the felony homicide of her friend, that would again be Iowa. California has absolutely no jurisdiction over her. And so waht if if her mother wouldn't testify. If she changed her story on the stand, the prosecution coudl just impeach her with her sworn statements to law enforcement. Plus, they can tack on some witness intimidation for speaking to her mother, which also means her lawyer is in big trouble. It's the most unbelievable part of the entire series. Should have just had the president pardon her or something.

Also wondering if you ever plan on discussing and dissecting the hatch mural? There was a fair bit of fore-shadowing too on that from what i remember?

Rewatching and I can't believe I didn't notice this until now. In Locke's first episode, Walkabout, I never realized that he didn't kill the boar. The monster did.

Man you have to do a video that emphasis the use of music and song lyrics to further elaborate on things, it's unignorable how much power some of it conveys in furthering elaborating on certain things. It was my own discussions with you that made me realize how much significance some of it had. One of the other examples that was always dormant but now has come full circle in my mind was Iggy and the stooges, when Sawyer's drunk off his ass in season 6 and gets visited by smokey when he's doing his first person mode thing, it's a given that the writers were using this stuff to further emphasis what they were trying to convey with certain scenes.

I AM THE WORLD'S FORGOTTEN BOY
THE ONE WHO SEARCHES AND DESTROYS.

Similarly we have Charlie singing the Kinks in the 23rd plasm.
Catch a falling star

Lindelof has his own band, it goes without saying he's a huge music lover. He definitely put music into the show to draw attention to certain ideas.

I'm not sure if I have asked you this (on here or reddit). But are you a fan of The Leftovers too?. It would be cool to see a video maybe a thematic, musical one like this. Contrasting the characters with each other as there is so many similarities and Kevin is a really similar character to Jack IMO.

Is there any weight to the idea that Kelvin Inman possibly used his manipulative skills to talk Radzinsky into killing himself, or that Inman is at least responsible for Radzinsky's death because all the time spent alone in the hatch led to some bad business between the two of them?
