Need episode 7 to actually show connecting different kinds of midi devices and assigning the tracks. I am only able to assign track 1 right now even after going into the utility menu. I have read the manual and it says to check the settings on the external device also but having trouble with that.

Suggestions for future firmware updates.


control mode…could be able to change the midi channel of the keyboard to control other synths that are not assigned to the 4 internel tracks. 1-16…selectable with holding a button and pressing any of the 16 sequencer buttons, much like the original keystep to select a midi channel. There could be 16 different banks of cc# for the encoders (one bank of mappings per midi channel) to control external synths…maybe even show a name on the OLED screen (that one can be defined in the software editor) for what each knob do to a external synth.


Velocity gates option on the drum gates out (velocity, 0-1 * 1 ) (if not possible to get 127 values because of hardware limitations, at least use the 8 values that can be selectable from the utilities settings menu, 8 velocity gate values is enough for most stuff anyway)…gates multiplied with the velocity from the drum sequencer…great for triggering drum modules that is designed to work with piezo triggers. Or even envelopes out directly with a AD... programmable per step from the sequencer…but i guess no DAC on the gate outs?


Everything on the keystep pro controllable via external midi cc#. So we can control the ARP division, looper or any other useful setting on the sequencer from external sequencer.


make it so that the drumsequencer AND the regular track1 can be used at the same time, or if that is not possible, at least make use of the “unused” CV outs for the other tracks…so we can “steal” one CV out from the unused track (that is used as a drumtrack). So we can get a full CV, GATE, VELOCITY, AFTERTOUCH from any chosen track.

Some of the knobs that dont work in drum mode could be set to ratcheting feature (preferably with ratchet probability feature).


Pitchknob could send out pitchbend on the drumsequencer (for midi) also recordable in the drum sequencer.


doubleclick a step (or any other keycombo) selects all active steps in a sequence (so one can edit all steps at one time with the encoders) values entered with the encoder should be added to the existing values (if any) until it gets to the max or min…then they will be reset to the same value.


arp mode…use the sequencer buttons to punch in arp rythms…step length of the sequencer can also be set (skip steps). Euclidian mode for the arp. (encoders set length, fill, rotate)

How do I control many synths with the midi outs? I’m using a midi splitter, but when I hit keys on my Keystep pro it’s sending midi data to all the synths on the other side of the splitter and playing them all at once. Please help!

can you use usb midi in and out to and from the computer with keystep as slave, and both midi outs with midi cable to control other synths at the same time? thanks

Important functionality seems to be missing: quickly changing the midi output channel of a track. Even simple keyboards have that functionality. Fast selection of the MIDI output channel of a track is needed to change synths while playing (each synth is on a different channel). Diving in the menu to switch channel takes too long. Urgent firmware update please.

This specific vid mentions everything but explains nothing in particular, unfortunately. Please make another one on how to connect to midi/cv hardware and sync to Ableton, etc properly.
It does not work right out the box. When you by the book and "think" everything setup properly it does not work. Its either does not work or need to know tricks. Please make a video on sync/connect usb/midi/cv.

Track 1 on my KSP seems to send midi data to both MIDI out 1 and MIDI out 2, and I was hoping this video would cover how those outputs are assigned. Couldn't find much in the manual about it either...

Hi Can the Keystep Pro record incoming midi data as played an say a juno? Ive read it can but it may not record note lengths?
