Had similar things happen to me several times from 6th-8th grade, but I never even asked any of them out because my confidence was already rock bottom from years of bullying. I either was pretty obvious or told the wrong person and everyone made fun of me for it, sometimes the crush themselves included. 22 now, never had a gf and still virgin (though I consider keeping virginity a win at least, not till marriage).

I don't think its fair to blame your use of hard drugs on one time you were humiliated as a kid. I was humiliated heavily as a teen for years, but I worked really hard on my mental health and I'm now healthy and happy again. I think it's possible for anyone to do it. I think it's worth a try, or several. It doesn't require flipping your life on its head, eating a perfect diet and exercising 2 hours a day, it just starts with small positive changes (change the way you talk to yourself in your head, go on a little walk if you've been inside for a while, tidying your room and giving yourself a good clean etc)

Had a somewhat similar experience in high school. Dumb freshman, ask out girl that I was told liked me, says yes. Then a few days later she tells me she isn’t interested anymore, doesn’t really explain why. Then I start hearing all of these rumors she was apparently spreading about me and after that I just give up on dating for pretty much all of high school. I had spent middle school getting rejected by every single girl o asked out so by the time I got to hs my confidence was rock bottom, but after that I just didn’t see the point anymore. It wouldn’t be years until I got my confidence back and actually got a gf, but these kind of episodes can be pretty traumatic for young boys.

I'm not virgin since my 18 yo but i don't understand all the stuff about shame around virginity. It's totally normal to be virgin at 21 yo. Most of ppl around have 19 or 23 and are still virgin.
