Over the many years I played on Gliga made violins and they were ok. I finally managed to buy a Harry Vatiliotis violin and it has been incredible for me. The Gliga violins I donated to a local music school

Ah, the trials and errors for picking the compatible violin and bow. Usually it's just by hearing the two if it can produce a beautiful sound. Now, it's analyzing the proper setup of the two that repairs can be easy or troubling. Choose well music players! 👍

I’m lucky. I bought a slightly used student violin, and my instructor says it’s a “forever fiddle”. That made my day. I’m probably going to save a lot of money.

Watching all these violin vids makes me 😥 Olaf. I'm still nursing my fractured (right) wrist and realising it will be weeks and weeks and weeks before I'll be able to put it through the extremes demanded of the bowing hand. Console myself with the fact that surgery was successful and I will get there.... eventually. Christmas?

All of the mentioned things like correct set up, distance of strings etc might be as well done correctly in very bad with no resonance violin and can be corrected after purchase. Do you have advice how to recognize high quality violin and its worth just by looking at resonance plate and wood patterns as thats something that you cannot fix and it determines if violin at core will have responsive resonant sound?
