I love "Helen Wheels" from 1974.

I was born in 74...mccartney in the 70s is what first attracted me to anything related to the beatles. Hearing uncle Albert, let em in, silly love songs and the 79 live version of coming up blaring from my parents radio are my first music memories. His vocals in the 70s were perfectly raspy on the rockers and sublime on the pop songs and ballads. Wonderful Xmas time has always been my favorite Xmas song. Once I hear it on the radio for the first time each season it brings back such great memories from past Christmas seasons.

It's only when watching this stuff back that I realise how many times I use the word "genius"! 😉

I would put Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five in the #1 spot. I love the song and the power of his vocals. And yes I even like the reprise at the end, think it fits in well and relieves the pressure 😊. Great list and now I must go and listen to some McCartney.

I like all of the songs on your list, but I would have replaced Monkberry Moon Delight, My Love and Dear Friend and with A Love For You, Too Many People and Getting Closer. Thank you for giving Get on the Right Thing its due.

I think the 70s were McCartney at his very best. I loved the Beatles, but never wanted them back together. And when George Martin produced Tug of War album without Wings he took the fire out of it.

Hi Andrew! What a great list of songs! Paul is so talented! One of my very favorites has always been Uncle Albert! Happy St. Valentine's day to you and yours! God bless!

My favourite is Long Haired Lady..the vocal harmonys are 2nd to none on this track..i never get tired of listening to it..Mull of Kintyre is brilliant but it doesn't get the love because it was a massive hit apart from the US..strange how they never took to that track..maybe they didn't get the feel of the Scottish Highlands

Totally with you on Maybe I'm Amazed, Andrew!

There are four songs I would have in my top 25 that were not on your list, which are
San Ferry Anne (from Sound) beautuful number)
Cafe on the Left Bank (from London Town), London always seemed greyer in those days even even when the sun was out, it was the London I remember and Love though!
Goodnight tonight (the 12 inch version) great guitars and changes in this song just love the feel of it
Arrow through me (from Back to the Egg) cnnot make up my mind if this is an up or down song but I love it

I guess for other mentions I think the B side of Goodnight Tonight, Daytime Nighttime Suffering is a very underated song, other would be for me, To You and Spin it on, from Back to the Egg and indeed Baby's Request and Winter Rose.

I appreciate people like Mull of K, but it would not have been in my 25, and Wonderful Xmas is fun and I would not knock it but it would not be in my 25 either as well as Monkberry, and believe it or not Live and Let Die.

And thats the good thing with music we may love an artist but our preferences as has been said before rest on may other things.

Great review thank! Mark.

Thanks again Andrew, loved it!
Oh man, what I do find soooo interesting with a lot of Paul McCartney songs: the diversity in opinions and emotions about certain songs that people can have and experience while listening to his enormous body of work. For example: I TOTALLY agree with you on Dragonfly: just supergorgeous all the way through. From the moment I heard it, I loved it! So, we're on the same track there! Also: I'm tótally with you regarding Monkberry: absolutely brilliant. And, as with Dragonfly, so immaculate produced!! Wow!
But, on the other hand, to the contrary, I just cán't get into could....and, for god's sake haha, LOL, just like you for me also the All The Best album was my first album-introduction, many years ago, to the Paul catalogue! Haha! But I never could listen to that song...how strange that is!!
Then, also, I álways réally líked the ending on 1985! How about thát! Haha :-). Isn't that funny Andrew!
On the same level: soooo many people HATE We All Stand Together, but for ME, it REALLY belongs to his ABSOLUTE BEST EVER!! Well, you see, opinions divers haha! It all is, appearantly, so super subjective!
About my top songs: me, myself, I would not put Amazed so high (btw which of the many live version do you think is the best?), and I would add Little Woman Love (such a gréat piano riff!!) and Mrs Vandebilt to the list. But, my gosh, whát a list. What a musician. What an artist! Love him.
