Behind the series: Prayers for the Next President

If given the chance, how would you encourage the next president of the United States in their leadership? What are the qualities you would want them to embody in their role? As we head into an election, we want to take the Scriptures seriously and pray for the leadership of our country, no matter how easy or challenging that may feel (1 Tim. 2:-4).

Though not a leadership book in and of itself, the Bible speaks and guides us toward the character traits required for effective leadership. In this series, we will take a deeper look into the lives of multiple people in the Bible who modeled four specific traits of effective leadership: humility, integrity, courageous peace, and servant leadership. While we pray for these traits to show up in the next leader of our country, we also want them to permeate our posture and presence in this political season. Regardless of political affiliation or preference, these are qualities we ought to strive to embody in our lives and the body of the church in which we belong.

A Prayer for the Next President
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your wisdom and guidance for our nation. As we look ahead to the next leader of this country, we ask that You raise up a person of strong faith, unwavering integrity, and a heart devoted to serving others.
Grant us a leader who will uphold truth, justice, and the values that have made this nation strong. May they seek Your wisdom in every decision, defending our freedoms, protecting the innocent, and guiding us with courage and conviction.
Lord, give this leader a heart for unity, that they may bring people together in times of division. Strengthen them with wisdom to govern justly, with boldness to stand for what is right, and with humility to seek Your will above all.
Protect our nation, Father, and let Your hand be upon us. May we turn back to You as a people and walk in righteousness. Let Your will be done in this election and in the future of our country.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
