The TRUTH to Gaster finally revealed in Undertale & Deltarune. This theory has got to be the biggest theory out there on the internet regarding W.D Gaster. Mountains of research into the game files of Undertale, what's implied in Deltarune, dissection of Undertale's ending, and more have surfaced which allows us to come up with a theory.

Have you ever wondered how the Undertale & Deltarune worlds are connected? How Deltarune sets the foundations to Undertale? Well this theory regarding Gaster explains everything. The ending to Deltarune Chapter 1, the ending of Undertale Genocide, the mysterious Knight in Deltarune, this theory has everything and it all relies on Gaster and the concept of SOUL.

A interesting factor of Gaster is that "redacted" speaks in lower case with a asterisk like sans while entry 17 is written in upper case with out a asterisk like papyrus

The whole story is so huge and deep that we probably have only seen like 25% of the story AT THE MOST

Gaster’s Theme sound file is called “mus_him” while “Another him” is the theme that plays during the character customization process at the start of Deltarune, right? ANOTHER him, like another Gaster. So what if, at that time your actually talking to the alternate universe Gaster?

At the end of the Undertale genocide run, Gaster puts your soul in Deltarune.
But the question is: Was that Gaster or AU Gaster? If the AU version of him was the one talking to you during the “goner making” process in Deltarune, then him talking to you at this time would make sense.
Or maybe Gaster gives your soul to AU Gaster after getting it from you.
OR MAYBE, they are both one and the same but scattered across time and space?

So, firstly, we know that chara is the person you have surrendered your soul to as there are 'soulless' pacifist routes you can do afterwards which show chara taking your body and thus your soul after you complete them (the player is more determined so during the game they still have control),
Secondly, The cage in Kris's room implies that they have placed their soul in there beforehand (it appears to have a lot of damage), implying that the soul has in fact been there before, so it is unlikely kris is only realising this now

I've always assumed [REDACTED] was just a large shattered piece of Gaster

There's also something else: in the Undertale twitter account, there was a series of tweets leading up to the release of DeltaRune that had Gaster saying "I look forward to creating a new future with you" "this will prove to be very. Very. Interesting", among other thing

5:49 after this point, the theory starts sounding a bit far fetched. What if our soul ended up in kris the same way it somehow appeared in Frisk? Maybe gaster wants our soul to become alive again, or something else like that?
There's a lot of evidence that Gaster is the one talking to you after Chara kills you, now that you've pointed out the possibility. While Chara is on the screen, their text is centred. But after killing you, it's aligned to the left and written in different lines, which looks somewhat strange. This is the way Gaster speaks. If it was all in capital letters, it would definitely be Gaster.
However, at the end of the Soulless paths, it's clear Chara can remember that you've committed genocide before. So why are they able to remember? I always thought it's because with your soul, they can remember the past resets even through a true reset. But if Gaster was the one to take your soul, why are they able to remember, then?
I believe the *strange someone* Jevil met was Gaster, but I doubt that Gaster is the Knight.
The evidence that Gaster is the Knight because of the horse stable thing is VERY far fetched. I'm quite sure that the horse stable is just another unused sprite. The Redacted thing could simply mean the save file has been redacted.

i just thought of another piece of evidence for the two gasters theory.
the song at the beginning of deltarune in the character creation screen is called ANOTHER HIM.

ANOTHER

HIM.

Damn, if gaster was such a genius then you'd think he'd know about workplace safety

this is perfect except for one detail
everytime we have seen gaster talk, he talks in ALL CAPS
but the voice in the genocide ending doesnt...

You know, at first glance your theory about the voice at the end being Gaster makes sense... however, I have a few counterpoints.
Aside from the language used, it doesn't really fit how we see Gaster talk at all. There are no linebreaks used for emphasis, no caps lock, nothing.
Chara uses interesting here not as a reference to Gaster, but simply because that's their vocabulary. They speak in a very fancy matter, with long words, this is simply how they are written (see "You are wracked with a perverted sentimentality.
") Gaster speaks that way also because he is smart.
Second off, we see Chara directly reference and address the events happening after erasing the world, in the nothingness.
If you chose to do genocide a second time, they reference it a multitude of times
"There is a reason you continue to recreate this world.
There is a reason you continue to destroy it."
"Should you choose to recreate this world once more.
Another path would be better suited. Now, partner. Let us send this world back into the abyss."
Plus, if the events in the nothingness truly had nothing to do with Chara, then how come their immediate consequence leads to the Soulless Pacifist Ending, where Chara takes control.

However, I do believe your theory can still make sense.
You see, as long as we classify goners as Gaster Followers, we can confirm one thing, they are related to death. After saving Monster Kid from falling from the bridge, they say "I was almost a goner.", definitely signifying that these figures are related to deaths, possibly in alternate timelines.
And you see, Chara *is* dead.
Another connection? This unused text. "Greetings. You have made yourself completely clear. Understood. I, your humble servant, will follow you to the utmost..."
This is how I believe Chara being the voice in the nothingness can connect back to your theory.

Chara takes *control* over your soul in exchange for the world being recreated.
Then, in this dimension, outside time and space, they meet Gaster.
He makes a deal with them, which prompts the "humble servant" message.
Gaster uses the SOUL to create a Goner for them, which is ultimately erased by the second voice.
The SOUL, which still has your control over it, is thrown into Chara and Deltarune begins.

Ok WOAH this is getting ridiculous with how tiny things can give us the answer.
There is 1 reason I don't think it was gaster that took our soul

Gastet ALWAYS speaks in all caps.
Other than the redacted one which can't be fully counted cuz it's unused.

And the way the voice acts still sounds just like chara. Why would chara bring the world back?
To get your soul; which is speculated to have been chara's soul to begin with.

Also I think the reason gaster looks different from redacted is for the same reason: it was a early version of gaster that was scrapped for its really crappy design.

Oh my! That's a VERY INTERESTING theory. I'd love to see it come to life in the second chapter of Deltarune :)

Wow, I didn’t know about that horse stable thing! Just as I thought most of the lore so far was set.

Also once you mentioned that thing, there’s another piece of evidence about that knight thing. There’s a secret room in undertale where there is a man behind a tree, who later gives you an egg, and E G G in windings is 👈👆👆, one left, and two up, which in a chess board would give you an L shape, just like how a KNIGHT moves, so that’s pretty cool. Nice video Cibley!

In the entry number 17 it says: *Dark Darker yet Darker* the darkness keeps growing
And Seam said that someone gave Jevil a vision of the world *Darker yet Darker*

Also if you are very close from the bunker in Deltarune you can hear a weird noise that if you speed it up you'll hear that garbage noise that is also the voice of the person who's writing the entry number 17 Gaster
