My guest this episode is Lex Fridman, Ph.D., a Research Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT), an expert on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, and the host of the Lex Fridman Podcast. We discuss Lex’s recent trip to the heart of the Ukrainian-Russian War, geopolitics, perspectives on people living in war zones, the shared human experience, and how information is communicated and controlled. As an experienced podcaster and public educator, Dr. Fridman offers unique insights into the art of holding conversations that grow understanding, especially when they involve people with opposing viewpoints. We also discuss the peer-review process for scientific research publications and how social media and podcasts are evolving the way science and technology are communicated. We consider how to find and follow your life’s purpose, maintain ongoing motivation and implement support systems to build and sustain momentum. Our conversation also covers capitalism, masculinity, chess and cheating, Lex’s idea for an AI robotics start-up and a Q&A from audience questions solicited on social media. As one of the main inspirations for the Huberman Lab podcast, hosting Dr. Fridman for this special centennial episode was an honor and a pleasure!

Thank you Andrew. This conversation was a huge honor for me. Episode 100!! Thank you for everything you do for the world, for being a great human being, scientist, and a close friend. You're an inspiration to all of us. Keep going! I look forward to doing episode 1, 000 with you when we're older, wiser (allegedly), but I still don't have anything figured out 🤣

I love how Huberman doesn't discriminate against robots and treats Lex just like a regular human.

Beautiful minds. Beautiful friendship. Deep conversations. The embodiment of all that's good, kind, strong, humble, generous, responsible and hopeful about humanity. And most importantly great role models for modern society. Congratulations, many thanks and love to both of you!

Both Lex and Andrew are in this moment in time very much needed in teaching starving minds and planting life goals in their future of seeking knowledge and you make learning enjoyable, I’m 75 years old and like the saying goes, you’re never to old to learn thank you

Massive respect for these two humble individuals that are sharing their gifts to the world on such a large scale! Thank you Lex and Andrew. I dedicate this quote to them:

"The Way of Knowledge fulfills a need. It fulfills an inner need to find purpose, meaning and direction in life. And it fulfills an outer need for your contribution to be given because the world needs it. The world needs it in all walks of life. It needs it in every aspect of its existence.

Those who are meaningfully engaged with the world are freed from the attempt to prove themselves. They are simply doing what they have to do. They can afford to be honest. They can afford to face themselves. They can afford to relax. They can afford to enjoy life. They can afford to dedicate themselves. To them, commitment is not a loss. It is the beginning of reality. To them, commitment is not a relinquishment. It is an opportunity to finally engage with life, not on their own terms but according to Knowledge within them. With Knowledge, they have a firm foundation within themselves and in the world. With a firm foundation, they do not continuously have to prove themselves and to establish their self-importance."

It comes from a book in _The Way of Knowledge_ - *_Wisdom from the Greater Community, Book 2 » Chapter 32: Pride_*
It's free online and I cannot recommend it more!

I love both these scientists. I was super lucky to find Huberman when I did. I almost died early this year in a car accident & has a brain injury connected to my right eye. Without the information of Huberman I would of never healed this fast. I don’t have to wear my prism glasses any longer & I’m on my feet ready to get moving. I love both of you so much!

As a person with a family member who committed suicide, I think it's important that Lex Freidman get as much love and support for the darkness that he is dealing with, especially after coming back from a war zone. My heart goes to him and his friend Andrew Huberman and to all the people who love him. I had not heard of Lex Friendman before this interview, but I believe he deserves happiness and health.

This is my first introduction to Lex. I wasn’t sure how I felt about him. It definitely wasn’t an instant liking; however, the more I listened to his ideas and how communicated his thoughts, the more I appreciated him. Thank you Huberman Labs for the Lex introduction and another excellent podcast!
