Probe into cause of Western Cape bus crash

The cause of a bus crash on Vanrhyns Pass, in the Western Cape, in which 10 people died, is being investigated.

Twelve passengers who were seriously injured have been hospitalised.

The bus was transporting 42 people.

Very tragic. I, for one, do not use busses in SA. I found the experience scary and said, never again.

This has happened before many times this year, yet no one wants to take the bull by the horns and put a system in place that protects the passengers on these busses, what needs to be is is: a) A daily checklist with checking items on it that ensures the road worthiness of the vehicle b) each driver must report to a supervisor before each trip so that the supervisor can ensure the driver is fit c) these drivers must have a no drinking, no drug way of life d) bus trips must be monitored by supervisors remotely and action must be taken if the driver speeds or drives unsafely e) one can go so far as to install a co-driver on each trip f) vehicles should have a roadworthy every 6 months, many other initiatives can be taken to ensure passenger safety, I mean, are they paying to die on the bus?

Bus crushes never used to be this much it just cant be that every week you hear bus crushes. Companies needs to stop employing less experienced people who love have no regard about other people's lives coz most of these accidents its speed.

if the bus was carrying ZCC members people were going to talk all kinds of insults and hate speaches but now it carries some foreign nationals and Xosa's nop one will say anything about it
