The Vacationer publication recently conducted a survey to see what people think are the most annoying things you can do on an airplane. I have to admit I am guilty of of a few. Let's go through the list and I will add a few extra.

My name is Brian but everyone calls me Greeny. I retired in January of 2020 after working 30 years in Law Enforcement. I wanted to retire young enough to be able to do some of the things I always dreamed about! Greeny, I found the best way to deal with the “ seat swapper “, .. being the fact that I fly solo all of the time, I would say that I get asked to switch seats over 50% of the time, I always end up in a row with a woman and child and within a few minutes I’m tapped on the shoulder by a guy asking me if I’d switch seats with him so he can sit with his wife and kid ( my thoughts are … why the hell would I want to get out of my aisle seat that I booked two months ago, move my bag out of the overhead bin and move over to a possible middle seat between two sweat hogs because you and your family decided to book your flight at the last minute )… so what I say now is “ sure, it’s definitely a possibility, after we take off I’ll come take a look at where your sitting and if it looks like a good swap then it’s a done deal “, … works every time

In addition to the seat kickers are those who grab your headrest to get in and out of their seat behind you.

The sniffer. On my recent flight from Bali, sniff, sniff, sniff the whole way. So annoying.!!! Yep had the overhead up, down, in out. Some people just can't sit still. Thanks Greeny.

People who are not ready to go when exiting the plane. You don't need to wait till the row in front of you exits to start packing up your stuff to leave.

People taking their shoes off is gross. Can’t stand it. My wife once had to sit beside someone with super smelly dreadlocks and that really pissed her off

My number one is flight delays and the airlines not being up front about the length of the delay 🙄

++ Twice in (decades of flying) we had a couple use the airline blankets to cover their "handiwork".
--- That will make you check twice before using the airline blanket.
++ When I was younger and good-looking, I had a young lady curl up on my shoulder and let her fingers do the walking. ( Was she asleep?)

One of my most annoying: airlines that leave late and don’t make up the time in the air, so you also arrive late to save fuel. It takes 1:45 to fly from Portland to Santa Barbara, but coming back, leaving late, 2:30! C’mon Alaska!

The worst thing is when in a line before the flight and you get older people that dont speak english or acting like they don't speak english tryiny to cut in. But I might be a grumpy old man myself because nearly everything about flying annoys me

In Thailand, I sat next to an old lady with a bag full of crabs. Another time, some nasty liquid from the overheard was dripping on me. It was a broken bottle of fish sauce.

I always book window seat cause ive got a good bladder on long haul. what pisssses me off is kids kicking the back of my seat i turn into the incredible hulk !!!

Shoes off and D out is traditional on international flights so stewardess knows you want tea not coffee 😄

I totally agree with the number 1 and it is definitely my number 1 too although there is another element to it that wasn't mentioned but is related (i.e. it also involves the back of your seat) and that is people who use your seat back to pull themselves up or in or out of their seat . This drives me absolutely crazy, especially if I am trying to rest/sleep and the person or people behind are constantly using your seatback/headrest as a handrail or pulling post when going to the loo or whatever 😠😠

I hate these things:
Seat kickers
People who pull hard on your headrest when they sit behind you and get up
Screaming babies (parents should try to comfort the baby or give an appropriate sedative)
Over head compartment hogs or swappers
Armrest hogs or super obese people who take up part of your personal space

On a long haul I take my shoes 👞 off while sitting always wear shoe walking to rest room, what I can’t stand is people in economy coming to premium economy or business to use rest room
