If this method is not working for you for rockstar games I suggest you try using NonSteamLaunchers-On-Deck.
If you have decky loader you can pretty easily set this up, I was able to test RDR2 which was not working with Heroic Games Launcher.

do you need an internet connection to play games on Epic or GOG? or can I play my Epic/GOG (non-live) games offline (ie. cyberpunk 2077 thats on GOG)?

good guide, but You should say some games using weird launcher like Rockstar or Ubisoft, can't be play on the go since they need server log in. (share data with phone don't work most of time)

Issue I get GTA4 let you play but you can't save.

I was having issues with Heroic due to cloud saves, is that still a problem? I know with Epic i wouldn't have my cloud saves between pc and deck. Not sure about GOG though

So logged in acted like it wanted to start but didn’t then restarted steam deck and started just fine so if you are having trouble try restarting
