JMG has returned from the aether with a bountiful harvest once more. Thank you for the great content

I like so much the duality in the universe, how the end of something (Supernovas) is the beginning of another thing (elements for life)!

Thank you for these uploads. They are interesting, and your voice is calming. You have no idea how much that impacts your listeners.

I could listen to this guy speak for hours. Like especially if his work was in audiobook form. If that ever happens they need him specifically to narrate

Thanks Jon. I was getting the astronomy itch....and was searching. Excellent timing.

Good timing as always. John was has a video when I have nothing new to watch.

Another reasoned account of how life and death are inextricably linked…
From galaxies, stars and supernovae to life, atoms and cosmic rays.

We keep finding that life on Earth is more resilient to high radiation than previously thought. Probably explains the lack of mass extinctions.

I always have to watch these videos a few times over. 1) The 😴 Playlist 2) Really pay attention because of the level of detail!

Thanks JMG! Another brilliant video!

JMG (Or JMG Fam) - Can you do a video (send a link) explaining what happens to the fabric of space during a gravitational wave event? I’m having difficulty visualizing how the ‘Funnel’ of the fabric is brought together during the event. 🌪🌪💫🌀

John, this is a fantastic video. Very compelling regarding the Fermi paradox. I watch all of your vids. The questions this one poses just gave me a huge lift. Thank you:)

Huh, there was an observed supernova around 800 years ago (SN 1181) but it's been associated with a nebula and remnant that's about 2 kpc away. Not sure if that's close enough to leave whatever trace was detected but that seems rather far. If that wasn't it, I'd guess it was only visible in the southern hemisphere as there's far fewer good records of such things from down there. It wasn't a particularly good time for records from Europe, either. SN 1181 was recorded in China.
There are two remnants in the Vela constellation in the southern hemisphere that are bit closer (250 and 200 pc) and at least one of them is thought to have happened around 800 years ago. We're still getting gamma rays from them.

Great outro. Now I keep thinking of SETI bringing us video of a little grey Vince, selling cosmic Sham Wows, to wipe all that iron 60 off your car.
