AMD Ryzen 5 3500 & Ryzen 9 3900 Spotted!

Let’s get started with AMD ! it looks like after announcing 6 new Zen 2 based CPU’s and releasing 5 of them, we might get a few extra ! And no I’m not talking about Threadripper! According to an EEC filing made by AMD a couple of days ago, Ryzen 3000 is about to get a few more CPU's in the lineup. A Ryzen 9 3900 non-X, a Ryzen 9 pro 3900, a Ryzen 7 3700 non-X, an Ryzen 7 pro 3700, and a Ryzen 5 pro 3600 and the most interesting in the listing is a Ryzen 5 3500. Now that last one seems to be a brand new CPU and we don't have any information on it besides a TDP of 65W. If AMD keeps the trend it has held since Ryzen first gen, the 500 denomination would indicate a quad-core 8 thread CPU since both the r5 1500x and r5 2500x were quad-cores too.

As for the other CPU’s in the listing, the r9 3900 non-X and the pro version is also surprising with a much lower TDP of 65W compared to the 105W of the 3900X. That’s 12 cores at 65 watts. I mean the six core r5 3600X has a TDP of 95W, that’s insane. Maybe AMD is taking a page off the community which has been consistently underclocking Ryzen CPU’s with great results in the power department. You might have also noticed that this lineup includes 3 pro CPU’s. In case you didn’t know AMD offers a pro line of both desktop and notebook chips and they have a few extra quirks. They offer extra protection like Secure virtualized encryption and memory encryption and other things like higher quality silicon and a 3-year warranty compared to one year for regular Ryzen products.

So this is what I want to do with the comment response section. It adds about 1-2 minutes to the episodes and allows me to explain some concepts/dive deeper into subjects. Hopefully, you guys enjoy them since it doesn't affect the length of the actual news episode which is around 5~ mins at the moment.
Had a small editing mishap at 3:06. I'm off to sleep. I will read and respond to as many comments as I can in this episode! Consider subscribing if you haven't! We're a pretty cool fam here at Boot Sequence!

Userbenchmark is just bad. They can't make a good algorithm and are making excuses. I read a good chunk of the original response.

I'm an Intel user, but the R5 3600 is, in my opinion, the CPU of the year. If the supposed R5 3500 could scale in price and performance, it might as well get the #2 prize.

Lower power 12 core seems like a great alternative for those using b450 who want to do thing like stream and game on the same system without breaking the bank

For the Brazilian market (my country), this new Ryzen 3500 fits like a glove because the 3600 was a bit expensive on us.

The 3900 might be my next CPU.

A cheaper, non-105W 12 core sounds like a win.

Great news.

User benchmarks is a good place to do a quick compare of parts and always has been but with anything once you narrow your choices down then you go out and look for reviews that match up your own personal usage.

Dangit! I choose 8 visible icons on the monitor lottery and you're back to one. I will however keep watching and play on.

UserBenchmark: We preffer quad cores!

AMD: Hold my beer...

I started watching your channel when I was searching for ryzen ram speeds/ timing. I like your presentation style and matter of factness of " this is the sweet spot but dont break the bank for little gain over all"

Keep up the good work, I am going to wait awhile before I build a full system

Cpu.benchmark did a shameful thing. I totally lost my trust on them.

What do you get out of "undervolting" a CPU? Other than wors performance? Some here talks about saving money on your power bill? How much power can you save if you "undervolt"?

3900 at 65w sounds interesting, wonder re Base/Boost clocks. Must be low given tdp.

r5 3500 could/will be 6/6 c/t cpu and r9 3900 and r7 3700 could be 12/12 and 8/8 c/t cpu-s too !! so basically they could be cpu-s without hyperthread and some 20% cheaper then those with threads and that will be best logical move for AMD if they want cheaper zen2 cpu-s

Nah, Nope, NO WAY
There will be another 65W TDP chips ?!

Btw,
what about B550, X470 price drop and RX5800 (?)
