This video is part of a series covering the recommissioning of this 'Norvil' Norton Commando 850 MKIII Roadster. It was built by Norvil in 2012 using new and upgraded parts throughout, including uprated brakes, electrics, starter motor and various upgraded engine parts etc. etc. However, shortly after it was built (only 900 miles on the clock) the then owner decided they didn't like it (too high and heavy for them) and left it sitting in their shed - for 10 years! These videos follow the recommissioning of the bike after its long slumber. This particular video shows the petrol tank being cleaned and fitted, along with the side panels. To begin with the locking petrol cap (locked in the locked position) was removed and then the old petrol in the tank was drained and the inside of the tank inspected - all good. After this the petrol tap was repaired in such a way that the lock still works, but any key will fit it. The tank and side panels are then fitted to the bike.

Good morning Mr. Chris Rooke, the quality of the polishing of the covers of the motorbikes that we can see in your interesting tutorials is impressive, it would be very interesting to issue a tutorial where you indicate which is the procedure or technique that you use to achieve such good results. Thank you very much

You could suit your lock mechanism to the key set you have. Change the leaves in your lock for the ones with those that you have a key for.

“ELECTRIC START” on the side panels is redundant. Manufacturers were producing bikes with elec. starters for at least a decade before Norton. Some owners called them “starter assist”.

The fuel you are throwing away might be better than the rubbish of today....
