The deference the judges give Trump due to his being a former president of the U.S. is understandable. However excessive deference by the courts and media detracts from the fact that he is a criminal defendant now and not president. The way he is covered and treated now insults the office and all the past presidents who did not commit crimes. Treat him like the citizen he is and not a special person.
