Sherlock Holmes expert here :P read all the books and now they’re my job :D. He was not gay. It’s actually stated in the books that he’s asexual. I think that’s what they were going for in Sherlock. There are people who say that John wrote everything the way he did to protect them, that John married Mary in order to be able to have a lavender marriage. But it’s fiction, so it’s not like you can check that with research or something. So yeah, he’s asexual. Still a win for us!

Sherlock was asexual. It was pretty obvious considering he cared for absolutely nothing but his own indulgences in puzzles.

Him avoiding midnight madness but never overtly stating his sexuality was part of the charm in the books and shows. Opaque personal features as a building block for people in stories lends to a more compelling narrative device than just handing out information or inserting poorly built gender tropes into a story where [they, ] have no purpose or reason.

That's why I make my own show/movie ending in my head...and sometimes fanfic T-T)9 lol

That's actually me watching the Broadway Newsies film (it's on Disney, I 100% recommend!) and going, "I want a bisexual Jack Kelly. But Disney... *Insanely dramatic deep breath* ...will never let that happen" 😞

It's certainly nice that these days Hollywood is willing to acknowledge the existence of LGBT people.

Sherlock was such a queer show but they were cowards and wouldn’t make anything canon

I've been rewatching Star Trek Voyager and Seven is so clearly aro-ace. She even made a list of pros and cons of all the crewmembers so she could pick a crush when she was pressured into dating, and after a super awkward date she concluded that she just wasn't attracted to anyone on board. Then a few seasons later they just make her sexually attracted to another character out of nowhere. And then in Star Trek Picard they did it again! I know she wasn't intended as an ace character, but come on!

I read PJO and Hoo for a reason everyone in those books are a member of the lgbt community

So it’s okay to assume sherlock holmes is gay, because it’s okay to assume sexuality as long as it isn’t a heterosexual assuming it?

I thought he was either ace or bi. Either way he wasn’t not queer lol
