this is pure insanity. Why do people think that barcelona was the best team in the world in 2008 when Pep became manager? they'd just finished 3rd in the league, ronaldinho was no longer the player he was and in a training session one time when the first team played the b team which pep managed at the time, the first team lost. pep then became manager and brought in dani alves, who was definitely not the best rb in the world at the time, as well as busquets from the b team. Also, up till then messi had obviously been showing signs of brilliance but pep turned him into an actual goalscoring machine with the system he brought in, which also got the very best out of xavi and iniesta, leading to them coming 3rd and 2nd respectively in the ballon d'or rankings for 2010 for example. then with city, no one thought de bruyne was a world class player in 2016, he was a very good player sure, but under pep he became the best midfielder in the world. he then also brought in bernardo silva, who only under pep became one of the best midfielders in the world. aguero was obviously world class but again pep arguably got the best out of him. also no one thought rodri was the amazing player he was before pep signed him in 2019. yes it can be said that he wasn't truly successful in bayern munich due to not winning the cl, but to call him overrated when he restored barca to their former glory and made his tiki taka famous all over the world and turned city from an aging slow team with clichy, kolarov and fernandinho to a world class team with bernardo silva, rodri and john stones, who he also got the best out of, is stupid. yes city are having a terrible run at the moment, but that doesn't excuse overreractions from fans who ignore the facts and pretend that pep never did anything meaningful and is overrated.
