Robotics Engineer Jeffrey Carlson helped build the Perseverance Rover that's driving around on Mars and now he's here at Gamology to let us know just how close we are to the coming robot revolution. Jeffrey talks about the things we should already be thinking about before the explosion of generalised AI onto society and wonders if our phones are already lying to us. Join Jeffrey in becoming excited and anxious for the future in this episode of Experts React.

Detroit: Become Human is a third-person adventure game where audience members have the ability to choose their own perspectives. The story continues without these characters as there are multiple playable characters; therefore, there is no "game over" message following the death of a character. With fast-paced events and dialogue choices, there are multiple ways in which the story can unfold.

It's kinda disappointing they didn't show him the best possible ending when he himself is so positive about AI and Androids and Robots. You can literally end the game with a tentative, but hopeful peace between the Androids and Humans, Markus and North are in love, Kara, Alice, and Luther are a family, and Connor and Hank are best friends. It's so wholesome but you have to put in a lot of effort, but it's so worth it to get the best ending.

Bring this guy back, he's great.
This also made me reinstall this game.

This guy's great. I like his insights and his curiosity about these androids in relation to current tech. Also, humor's on point. "Back when I was toaster oven" lmao

I love this game, might have to play it again. Somebody needs to get this guy a copy so he can experience it all himself too.

8:08 yeah as a programmer who mainly specializes in python, the moment robots can learn to code will be both heaven and hell, because coding is amazing and so satisfying yet annoying and stressful and so soul crushing and rage inducing

One thing I love about this game is that I can see all the major buildings in Detroit that I always saw with my parents growing up

1:32 little bit of context: the Androids (at least during this stage of the game) have to follow the orders given to them by their owners, the reason she doesn't intervene is because it goes against her master's wishes...that is until she breaks her programming a little bit later.

Dude's got a point. There is way too much andriod/robot media about rogue AI. At this point it's a self fulfilling prophecy

Itvwould be cool to have Jeffrey back again to react and give thoughts/analysis on robots on different games, like the loader bots from Borderlands, the robot that saved your life at the end of Half Life 2 (forgot the name), the turrets and GlaDos from Portal and so on

Thanks for the video, Gameology :)

He just doesn't react to what he sees in the video game, he also gives insightful information. I want to see more of this guy. Please have him back.

I think the quote that inspired the whole ex machina movie is the best anti-fear thing to combat the AI fear that. We as humans when Artificial Intelligence become sentient "We will parent and teach them how to be alive"

I've always wanted to ask a Robot engineer about the 3 laws that was mentioned in I Am Robot movie.

I had a conversation with my friend about if we were to have our own androids would we treat them as a person or just another electronic device. The consensus of the discussion was that if the android looked human and acted human we would treat it as a normal person out of habit. In video games I always talk to the characters as if they could hear me using pronouns instead of thing or it. I would naturally treat an android like a person especially if they looked that life like.

I'd like to see his reaction to all of Markus' paintings they r very intriguing and beautiful. As well as Connor building a relationship with Hank.

I like that he raised more questions than explaining the stuff in a professional aspect as he should've

U should definitely have this expert not only react, but actually get he context and play the game, that way, he'd understand the concept better, and the story is quite brilliant, would love to see him play the game beginning to end. 💯😎
