Microsoft just announced GPT-4 is now in Bing, a day after Google announced that it's launching Bard. The AI wars are heating up! Let's talk about it

...love how Chat GPT triggered a Code Red at Google. They withheld their AI systems from the public for YEARS due to liability and/or reputational (quote unquote "AI safety") concerns. If you're not willing to innovate, someone else will come along and do it for you, as simple as that.

there is no announcement that GPT-4 is now Bing. First of all, GPT4 is the name of the algorithm/modelling technique, so it is not the name of a product. Second, what the new bing implemented is MSFT's own Prometheus modelling + OpenAI's GPT (currently 3.5). Thus, i have not seen GPT4's annoucement yet.

It's basically race sprint from Microsoft to eat as much market share as it can, right now it's 90% Google and 9% Bing, if Bing can climb to 20% when the dust settles it's already a big win for them.

Finally a use for Bing. Without this I have no reason to bother with Bing

If the AI search results are recent (up to date) and reliable, and it gives me the info and links I need in a concise form, then I would switch to Bing in a heartbeat. But if it's some cluttered, convoluted mess (much like that demo you just showed), then probably not. It should be almost identical to ChatGPT, except with images, links, and simple buttons like "More Results" or "More Details", depending on the nature of the request.

At 5:35 when you said you don't know how does he know you've been on the fishing trip, the answer is based on the search query itself. It basically is an example of how it would answer in the full version, since this is just a demo.

This is going to really make me use Bing alot more. I already use Microsoft Edge as a PDF reader, as it lets you use other installed voiced you have on windows. Unlike MS word, which only lets you use a select few. During the MS demo, i noticed what they did with having the AI read the PDF and pull data. that the first thing i wanna test out.

They have integrated AI chat into edge browser and the examples they showed at the event look very promising. Just might make me ditch chrome!

Google's language model is 3 times larger and will be integrated into Chrome, so not looking to change. Sam Altman said that the Bing integration was based on a newer version GPT 3.5, not GPT 4.

I think you might be misunderstanding what GPT-4 is. It is still not released yet.

5:40 “Now I don’t know where this is pulling it from, I don’t know if it’s using past data…”
_The canned prompt_ says “I just went fishing in Big Horn in Montana and would like to go fishing in the Florida Keys.” That appears to be why the chat is referring to a great fishing trip in Bighorn, Montana.

I would rather prefer that the chat "results" was the main focus on the page, while the regular search results was in a small box to the right.

After the Google Non-event today, where they showed a load of minor upgrades to existing stuff and no real search news, guess I will be 'binging it' real soon. RIP Google.

If A.I. scrapes the web for "free" and gathers content for its own Chat that way, I can already see that many websites would want to hide their content behind a paywall or membership site.
Either that or the Search Engines have to pay these content creators in another way (e.g. per reference)

will definitely be using bing once gpt4 is integrated

We need an uncensored AI. asking chat GTP from OpenAI any questions is like asking a disney nun a question. everything is hate speech etc, constant leftist morality lecturing

"I don't know where this is pullng it from... I don't know if it's using past data or some other information it's collecting on you to know that you had a past fishing trip..."
It was literally just regurgitating what was in the search box.

I am happy to find a tool that allows me to find information that isn’t Google. As a web developer, it can allow me to figure out things within a couple of questions that I would otherwise be piecing together from forums. I don’t want to be marketed too whilst searching every single thing in life.

It isn't pulling this Bighorn Montana thing from your history, it's just literally written in the search query, look at the search box
